Bolton visits Judy: "Just two potential Plamegate sources shooting the ...
.... breeze.

Maybe they swapped notes on Pat Fitzgerald (Judy: “He really got mad when I wouldn’t tell him what he wanted...” Bolton: “...and they say I’ve got a temper!”) (laughter all around)

Or maybe they just talked about old times, when Bolton was reportedly a regular source for Miller’s WMD and national security reports.

Just two potential Plamegate sources shooting the breeze.

For anyone who doesn’t find this jailhouse get-together highly UN-usual, please give me the name of the journalist who, in or out of jail, would get a visit from John Bolton. Other than Bob Novak.

like a toilet, yet she's reluctant to tell what she knows in connection to the Plame case. She and the bushies are joined at the hip, each as vile and dirty as the other.
Why the NYT hangs on to this right wing hack is beyond me. She's pretty much flipped them the bird, but they continue to cover up for her as much as they can. They ought to distance themselves from this albatross but they don't. I wonder what she has on them?

It's one thing to be a sleazy reporter who feeds admin bullshit to the NYT and calls it news, it is quite another to be behind bars with no end in sight and your pals warning you to take the hit for the team, or else.

and just think about all the right wingers who had their panties in a wad when they let all of the suspects ride together in Aruba on the way to jail(even though it was a deliberate attempt to tape what was being said between the co-conspirators).
I believe that letting two people who are in the middle of an investigation meets the same criteria, so where are the right wingers screaming about this?
Oh wait. They aren't outraged when their side does it.

Are you f*****g kidding me! This is a joke, right? It's absolutely NOT possible that Bolton visited Judy Miller in prison. This is 100x's worse that Scalia duck hunting with Cheney while Scalia was about to review a critical case that involved Cheney.

35. Remember Ambassador Wilson & Murray Waas on "Democracy, Now"?
"The fact that Mr. Rove, who is now documented to have been a liar and to have been the source of a treasonous leak is still on the payroll and Mr. Libby is still on the payroll and Mr. Bolton is up at the United Nations really, I think, is a breach of the President's bond to the American people."

And, then Murray Waas commented:

I just wanted to backtrack for a moment and say your competitor, National Public Radio, reported this morning that on his second day at the U.N., and this is an exact quote, John Bolton has been a “model of decorum.” That's their exact words. So it should be interesting if NPR reports on the third, fourth and tenth and twelfth day and how long into his tenure as U.N. ambassador that he has been a model of decorum. It's kind of extraordinary that they said without any kind of irony whatsoever, I think, reported that as news. I mean, one can imagine perhaps we'll have reports on the news about Condoleezza Rice today was a model of decorum, or the Vice President was a model of decorum or members of Congress were models of decorum, but back to the role of the press in this story.

From the program notes Exclusive: New Information May Reveal Key Details on Judith Miller's Role in the Rove/CIA Scandal on August 4, 2005

Link:

http://www.democracynow.org/article.pl?sid=05/08/04/1357248

I'd hardly call it a "model of decorum" for an the US Ambassador to the UN (or any other member of the Administration) to be visiting Ms Miller.

But, for a guy who we have every reason to think was one of Miller's sources and a guy who had a clear anti-State/INR agenda to be visiting propagandist-in-chief Miller must have truly 'made Fitzgerald's day.'

And, these items from Huffington and Begala might be of interest to those of you who haven't read them:

64. Another worthwhile reference is Steven Clemons TWN post of ...
... July 22, 2005

SCOOP: John Bolton Was Regular Source for Judith Miller WMD and National Security Reporting

TWN has just learned from a highly placed source -- and in the right place to know -- that John Bolton was a regular source for Judith Miller's New York Times WMD and national security reports.

The source did not have any knowledge on whether Bolton was one of Miller's sources on the Valerie Plame story she was preparing, but argues that he was a regular source otherwise.

It's all "thickening."

50. The 'Old Grey Lady' is desperately wanting this to stop, because ...
... as many have commented, the NY Times executive management had to have been complicit in Miller's propaganda and mis-behavior.

Interesting reading includes this post at dKos:

http://armando.dailykos.com/story/2005/7/27/15050/6465 (just do a find on 'grey lady')

Here's a DU thread on Frances Whittelsey's "Anonymous Lies From Anonymous Sources"

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=4268355

Erika Mona is terse and definitive in her "Where She Belongs":

http://www.superunicorn.com/erik/2005/07/where-she-belongs.html

"If she is not willing to break the shield now, I can only conclude it is not her source she is protecting, but herself." from:

http://boadicea.blog-city.com/turdblossom_meets_the__fan_and_scooter_cant_get_no_satistrac.htm

"But what worries my Times sources the most is that it smells like the straw that could break the Gray Lady's back." from:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/theblog/archive/arianna-huffington/the-judy-file_4933.html

......and on and on.....

Judy is exactly where she belongs and some executives (and others) at the New York Times may have reason to be concerned about joining her, but definitely have good reason to think that Judith Miller may well bury the 'old grey lady.'

Peace.

68. Arianna chastises the 'preemptive PR' of the NY Times, again!
Note to the editors (1): No matter how many times you say it, covering for an illegal government leaker out to smear someone's reputation for political reasons, is NOT the kind of "free press" we are trying to export to "the rest of the world."

Note to the editors (2): You may want to tell your public editor not to quote the Times editor he quotes in Sunday's paper, laying out one of the Times' ethical guidelines: "The Times's policy does not permit the granting of anonymity to confidential news sources 'as cover for a personal or partisan attack.'" So which is it, Times editors? Let's give Judy the benefit of the doubt for a minute and accept that she was a catcher, not a pitcher. Then, according to her own paper's ethical standards, if the person pitching to her is doing it for partisan reasons -- and is anybody doubting that? -- then there is no "granting of anonymity".

<clip>

Will the preemptive PR work and keep Judy from being charged with criminal contempt? Stay tuned...

From Preemptive PR: The Times Makes the Case for Judy... Again by Arianna Huffington on August 16, 2005

56. Yes, as a US Ambassador, he is an emissary of the President ...

...and, if Ms Huffington's source is correct, the Government of the United States of America visited a prisoner in a Federal detention facility.

All the while, we have American citizens and others being detained throughout the United States, and elsewhere, who are denied access to legal representation, who have never been charged with a crime, and, in more cases than we know, are being tortured.

And, the little boy president, georgie, is riding his bike and wants to 'get on with his life.'

Even 10 years ago, if you had written the above as a script for a movie or as a novel, it would have been viewed as "only possible in the movies" by most.

Peace.

57. An emissary of the United States meets with a potentialTraitor.
If this is not so it is up to the President to clarify it - not us.

58. This is potentially the equivalent of the Saturday night massacre
scenario.

Now what woman is strong enough to reel him in - because God knows none of the guys are going to do it - as has been discussed on another thread.
Hillary is hoping he'll jump into the boat and cook himself.
So who is going to do it? Or are we waiting for Ariana to keep working him until some GOP shark will take a bite. And to think we used to be Whale Hunters.

66. Arianna Huffington ... "Oh, Wonkette ...."
Wonkette had best stick to snark about Jenna and other non-essential gossip ....

oh, wonkette, I hate to kill your buzz… but in your excitement over trying to play gotcha, did you forget how to get your facts straight?

You see, you called the wrong detention facility. You called the ARLINGTON County Detention Facility. Judy Miller is being kept at the ALEXANDRIA Detention Center.

Oops.

If you had called the right facility -- as I did before posting my story -- you would have been told -- as I was -- that it is the policy at ALEXANDRIA not to give out the names of visitors (in fact, the deputy we spoke with there said that he wasn’t sure they would give it out even with a subpoena). ARLINGTON apparently has a looser policy when it comes to visitor names… not to mention when it comes to having nice phone chats with fact-challenged bloggers.
