Today's litany of Republican Scumbaggery is simply breathtaking
Simply breathtaking.

Abramoff (Republican cash-funnel, most recently tied to Montana Senator Conrad Burns, in a sleazy deal involving casinos, PAC contributions, and $3 million in Interior money. who is up for reelection in 2006), indicted on fraud charges, Tom Delay hit by FEC audit for $300,000 in misappropriated or misreported campaign funds, New Hampshire election-tampering scumbag Jim Tobin (Frist protogee) getting his legal bills paid directly by the RNC (who by implication authorized Tobin's election felonies in New Hampshire?), and the continuing saga of Duke Cunningham.

Just taking a step back from reading Google news, DU's greatest page and talkingpointsmemo.com to just marvel at the audacity and rapaciousness of these major-league felons. They make the cosa nostra look like hubcap thieves.

1. It's there for everyone to see
And it's going to reach a critical mass when Fitzgerald hands down the indictments to Rove, Libby etc.

It's going to be fun to see, but it's also going to be an incredibly volatile time for this country, and I hope we're all ready for that.

2. Don't Forget About The NH Phone Jamming Scandal
People are already in jail over that and it connects to Bill Frist. The RNC has paid over 700k in legal bills to protect the scumbag who's currently under indictment.

3. That's Jim Tobin.
But I did forget to mention Senate Intel Collusion on fixing "intelligence" on Iraq in the rush to quagmire.

7. Quite all right. I don't think his scumbaggery can be emphasized enough
along with RNC's involvement and Frist's mentoring.

5. That's right. Sibel Edmonds claims that the Turks boasted about the
influence they were buying from Hastert.

8. This Delay laundering story slipped under many radars yesterday
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/08/09/AR2005080901830.html

Associated Press
Wednesday, August 10, 2005; Page A08

AUSTIN, Aug. 9 -- A state district judge on Tuesday refused to dismiss charges of money laundering and accepting illegal political contributions against two associates of House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Tex.).

Judge Bob Perkins denied arguments from attorneys for John Colyandro and Jim Ellis that the charges were based on an unconstitutionally vague law and that the indictments were improperly worded. Attorneys for the two said they would appeal, which could delay a trial for several months.

The charges stem from the 2002 Texas legislative elections. Colyandro worked for DeLay's fundraising committee, Texans for a Republican Majority, and Ellis worked for Americans for a Republican Majority. The laundering charges are based on $190,000 in corporate money that was sent to the Republican National State Elections Committee, which donated it to seven Texas House candidates.

GOP Pulls Off Corruption Trifecta
by Scott Shields

It's stunning that so much horrible news can hit all on the same day. Here's a sampling of some bad news for the GOP running on the wires this afternoon.

Fraud Indictment Expected for Abramoff
...
Federal prosecutors are seeking bank fraud charges against lobbyist Jack Abramoff, a key figure in investigations involving House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, The Associated Press learned Thursday.
The charges stem from the 2000 purchase by Abramoff and his partners of SunCruz Casinos and the alleged use of a fake wire transfer to defraud two lenders out of some $60 million to finance the deal, according to a federal law enforcement official. . . .more

A telephone firm was paid to make repeated hang-up phone calls to overwhelm the phone banks in New Hampshire and prevent them from getting Democratic voters to the polls on Election Day 2002, prosecutors allege. Republican John Sununu won a close race that day to be New Hampshire's newest senator.

Since charges were first filed in December, the RNC has spent more than $722,000 to provide Tobin, who has pleaded innocent, a team of lawyers from the high-powered Washington law firm of Williams & Connolly.
