The best deal in history! Help corporate-free media and get free beer.
Edited on Wed Aug-10-05 11:00 AM by brainshrub
I volunteer for a Liberal radio-station in Asheville, NC.

WPVM, the progressive voice of the mountains, desperately needs two (2) computers to help handle archiving of content and automation.

To sweeten the deal: I will buy a pint of beer for whomever will donate a computer when they meet me at the one of the huge DU meet-ups this September.

WPVM is a progressive outlet that broadcasts Democracy Now and features locally-produced programming. We are entirely funded by the generosity of small donors and money raised by selling wireless internet access via a non-profit called MAIN.

The minimum requirements for the computers are:

  • 500 MHz processor
  • 128 Megs of RAM
  • NIC card.

No monitors or keyboards necessary. WPVM will pay for shipping. PM me if you can help.

If you value progressive media, and you have a computer you could afford to get rid of; here is your chance to help strike a blow against corporate-free media, improve your personal karma AND get a free pint of tasty beer.

Never in the history of media has such a great offer been made.

If you don't have any computers, please keep this kicked.

NOTE: This request for charity was approved by Skinner. As per DU-guidelines, I am only allowed to post this one thread. (Thanks Skinner)

1. My husband says my old computer would meet that criteria
I will ship it to you next week (he has to back stuff up and clean the drive). Tell me the address where you want it sent.

4. I just got off the phone with her.
I just got off the phone with her. Not only is she donating a computer, but after the computer gets in the mail they are driving to Crawford, Texas.

In other-words, she doesn't sound like the kind of person who would do such a thing.

Plus, everyone at the station is very computer-literate. We were planning on sweeping the hard-drives clean anyways.

Thanks for the heads-up 'tho.
