Bush's support is a mile wide and an inch deep....
Edited on Mon Jul-14-03 09:52 PM by kentuck
And as hot as it's been lately, the water is evaporating rapidly. It'll soon be so narrow that a midget can do a backflip across the stream. There was a reason the support looked so strong for so long. There was no heat and no wind. It was appearance over reality. And Bushand team thought they were invncible. They could barely see acroos the broad span of support.

Then the heat came. They lied and it started to be broadcast over television and people that are usually deaf and blind to political affairs could not help but hear the news about the lies and the deception. Their eyes slowly opened and their mouths were agape with disbelief. They had no way of knowing because they had not been told and they had no inclination to delve into political affairs.

Nothing makes the news like the news. We cannot know what we do not know. And a large portion of America, as witnessed by a recent poll of Democrats where two-thirds could not name one candidate, illustrates the pitiful condition our nation is in per their lack of knowledge of current and political events. There is a failure when the news fails to reach such a large number of people. But this week is a good start and Bush will pay the price.

(edited for the word "not")

1. Exactly
He may be able to get enough people to nod "yes" on the "good job/bad job" question, but he has nowhere near the adulation that a Reagan had.

He's an embarrassment and many are feeling the twinge. He's condescending, pompous and he's constantly threatening people. That doesn't sit well for long.

If he's no longer the "no-nonsense President"...well...that makes him the "nonsense President". Back off our real enemies and invade someone who has no interest in us. Create many enemies in the process. Suck the revenue for the government dry so it can be given to those who don't need it. Cram god down the throats of indigent alcoholics. Ignore tracking weapons, but gush money at pornography, prostitution and paraphernalia.

Once the tables start to turn it could get ugly but-quick.

What can they do? If the Iraqis have their little Tet Offensive that they've rumbled about on the 17th (this Thursday) will the right claim that it's the treasonous liberals who brought it on with their lack of solidarity? Of course. There's gonna be a whole lotta spinning going on.
