My letter to Rep. and Sens. regarding Iran - I've lost much civility
Now we're starting to hear the spin about danger from Iran.

In a word: Bullshit.

This is another bang-the-drum effort to justify another illegal aggression on another sovereign nation that holds no real threat to the United States.

The American people will not fall for this line of rhetoric again and you have nothing but your complicity to the criminal Bush agenda of greed to thank for it. This Congress has proven time and again that it does not hold the the interests of Americans over their own.

We clearly see those of you in Congress who have condoned or have participated in:

• the energy bill giving millions in tax breaks to big oil companies making record breaking profits at a time when gas is more expensive than it's ever been.

• denying the evidence that exists in The Downing Street Memos that proves Bush lied to us about the threat coming from Iraq

• the political smearing of those who express dissent

• tolerance for acts of treason

• the profound profits being made by the no-bid contracts to Halliburton (Cheney's past employer, go figure) and the rewards Halliburton reaps for fraud that steals millions from taxpayers

• the degradation of our collective morality though the denial of and condonation of torture

Never mind the moral implications, it's obvious from a practical standpoint that we simply cannot fund, nor do we have the manpower to wage war in Iran. The American people will NOT stand for a draft and the all-time low approval rating for Bush's handling of the war should prove that.

At this point I can only pray that you get some sort of ethical epiphany and draw the line. I pray that you and your fellow representatives pull the reins on the war mongering of Bush, Cheney and company before they end up pulling this country, nay, the world, into a shitstorm of epic proportions.

Sincerely,
XXXXX XXXXXX

5. Do you mean cut the cussin'?
I get potty mouth when I talk about current politics - couldn't even stop it in front of my boyfriend's mom. Thankfully, she's an amazing woman and loves me anyway.

6. The question I want answered is
How could they Bushites by so completely incompetant and blow our ability to project force on Iraq when Iran posed the bigger, mor obvious, staggering threat? WMD's out the wazoo in Iran and we're fucking around in Iraq? Potential Iraqi nuclear threat? What about the guy in North Korea that's actually waving them at us? That's not just breath-takingly amateurish; that's criminally maladroit.

7. Great letter. Short and to the point. Everyone in Wash DC should
be replaced with people who care about what the American people think and want, not just what the PNAC wants.

8. nicely done
What is sticking in my mind right now is this: say Iran really does want to nuke us, and has the ability to. This administration has cried wolf when there was none. This was a big argument against hasty, pre-emptive action against Iraq in the first place. Mess this up - no one will listen to you next time.

So now we've overextended ourselves fighting a meaningless war, and now no one (internationally or at home) is interested in another. What a great opportunity.

Personally, I think the stuff about Iran is bullshit anyway, but...still, I guess that's the point. How can I believe anything either way now??
