Are *we* the WMD?
Was the United States a deadly weapon, left unguarded, just waiting to be stolen and used against the rest of the world? Because it seems that's what's happened. The neocons have hijacked the most powerful force in the world, the United States of America, and they're using it to take over the resources of the planet.

I wonder who will protect the rest of the world from us.

2. No. Dramatic hysteria is really of no use at all.

4. Well..
We *are* the only nation to have actually USED WMD's against a country.

But, you bring up some good points to consider.

7. Thanks. I don't know why ...
...but it just hit me that way when I was reading some of the articles posted at truthout, today.

5. We have failed to protect our coutry from those who would hijack
it for personal gain, corporate influence, war profiteering, environmental rape, raiding of the treasury, casting off the needs of the populace, and much much more. We have failed to protect our nation from a band of thugs. Shame on us.

6. Maybe it was, in part, due to general complacency...
...although not entirely. The neocon thugs found loopholes in the Constitution and they're exploiting them.

But the framers could not possibly have anticipated the Information Age. Media monopolies would have been prohibited, if they had foreseen the silencing of diverse voices. And computerized voting is, to my mind, a similar issue. Had the framers anticipated such a thing, they would have required verifiability.

If we ever regain control over the thugs who have hijacked us, I'd like to see constitutional amendments dealing with both issues--the voices and the votes.
