Prediction: New Meme "Extremist Ideology" means Liberals in the end
I have a feeling, and I've been pretty good at seeing where things are headed (in college 22 years ago I drunkenly told my pals that in 20 years we'd be "goose stepping for Jesus all over the world") --

And the feeling is, that this switch to "Extremism" and words like "Ideology" being tossed around all at once as talking points usually lead to something they have in mind.

They always test things out on the lowest or poorest in Society, those who can't afford lawyers or have had the social net removed before their eyes.

Or brown people they decide to blow up this particular war.

I think that they have things pretty much in place, people will accept just about any job in many places, or join the military. They can stop anyone at anytime and search them, if you complain it's off to the corp prison with you, etc..

They may be practicing in the middle east, just like they used to hand over the 2nd wave weapons to middle easterners before to try on each other, now they are personally invested, making money off the McTroops as Halliburton fodder..

My point is this. LIBERALS may and are really, considered "Extreme" in their views, websites, writings, art, looks, etc.

Liberals (we could even call them Democrats) share a common "flawed" "Ideology" - they are out of step with regular americans - put the troops at risk by asking questions, etc, etc..

I have a sinking feeling that the fix is in and that it's only a matter of time before we see a disasterous portion of our history repeated.. this time it will be US. People like us, thinkers, rebels with a cause, people with more than a 7 second attention span..

US.

The borders are being regulated and controlled, new laws may be passed to allow citizen Vigilantes, ARMED with the blessing of the Govenor of whatever state decides to be included.

There exists at this time a world wide terror alert, asking that Americans basically NOT Travel for fear of assasination, kidnappings, beheadings, you name it..

When you go through an airport you have to do the Jesus act as I call it - arms out, sandals only, look straight ahead and don't crack any jokes while you are pawed..

Anyone on subways or busses with a backpack is now suspect, armed troops patrolling cities and mass transit with big GUNS in their hands.

When the rich and powerful crash systems they just get all the land they can buy and new slaves. We get a bag of straw by a warm stove and a glass of milk if we don't complain - at least if history is any measure..

Suggestion:

Move to where you really, really want to live for the rest of your life, make sure you can grow or hunt or fish for food, look for smaller communities where everyone can vouch for each other, make sure there's a really RICH section near where you live since you may gain the protection offered to them. Do/make something that gives you bliss each day, make your job your happiness, and be more kind to people, you may need their help when you and they least expect it.

Might even want to learn how to rewire a generator, etc :) I've moved off the mainland and could probably live quite well if there was no such thing as electricity any more... I sort of figure if a bug got loose in the world they could shut off plane travel to the Islands here and maybe we'd become the garden of eden while the rest of the world died from some exotic, potentially manufactured disease..

Maybe it's too late in the morning for me to be posting, maybe I'm getting punchy, but I've had a "spider sense" all my life that's kept me from dying dozens of times, and it's glowing cherry red as the Bush Regime creeps forward.

I never thought the day would come where *I* would sound like one of those survivalist nutjobs, but the world seems to be getting complicated and Fast - Look at Britain, Blair is now trumpeting the deportation of "Extremists" and those that "hate" - just exactly what does that mean? I think it means trouble, and not just for muslims..

I miss the Clintons and what came before real bad, the 70's were a blast, so much freedom.. I even enjoyed serving my country in the Air Force during Nam.. but it seems like that nation I was fighting for was a very different country..

What really scares me is the sinking thought that this is where America Used to Be...

1. well, we know protestors (colorado) are having information gathered
about them as 'potential' terrorists by the FBI (article on DU a day or so ago). Labels are dangerous. It is also part of the 'pre-emptive' mentality of the BushCo cabal.

This is just not the place it used to be, and it looks to be getting worse, not better. I don't know what the future holds, but the chances of it being something I want any part of seem slim.

3. Gimme a sextant, a compass, and a map...
... and I'll tell you where to go... my dad was a navigator (SAC). Being a poor musician has its benifits too. You learn how to fix everything. :D

I'm sure the years I spent in the Boy Scouts will come in handy too. ;)

4. "Back to Basics"
the Reader's Digest book on "how to learn and enjoy traditional American skills," is an example of the type of books people might want to buy.

5. It isn't that far out
Cracking our own party's pants down leadership, the MSM and the straining, REEEALLY straining sanity of the GOP powermongers, still makes this far from inevitable or over. Nor has a gut core of decency been broken enough to cede the majority of the population to this "power" myth of the Coup makers. I once felt otherwise. The people never quite flunked the test but the liars were too impatient to wait.

But even so, if something snaps we are still left with massive suffering ahead. Every lie left alive will have many victims. I had less hope oddly as things wore on from bad to worse with sour public Amen's from the largely unpunished and investigated Nixon days to Reagan to Bush. In an easy sweep of daylight and prosperous sanity Clinton simply showed hope the real winner. Now we have a really extreme but extremely revealed summation of all that has been wrong with history and humanity lazily bowing before a self-chosen morally challenged potentates and the duped sheeple.

So I can grimly smile at the solid proof for hope and scorn the over dramatic bluster of Armageddon, or as it is called in Bushamerica "the bitter bubbas' big bad Bible battle."

And bottle that water.

6. You aren't alone in your musings friend
Nor are you alone in your "spidey sense". I've been convinced of an impending collapse of our-country-as-we-know-it since I was in my teens. Twenty years ago I was telling friends and family that we're going to be facing a revolution/civil war withing forty-fifty years. Sadly, I may have to shorten my time table.

I've been preparing for this scenario for a long while. I've moved to the country, have a garden and started an orchard. Five year plan includes a wood stove among other things, ten year plan includes a wind turbine, solar panels and a large cistern. When my wife and I mention these preparations to other people, they look at us like we're some sort of survivalist nuts, but we simply mention that we're looking to save on utility bills, etc. and they drop the issue. Some other friends and family are actually quite supportive of our efforts and some are even making their own efforts towards self sustenance.

Yep, like the distant rumble of thunder over the horizon, small but unmistakable signs of the impending perfect storm are all around us. Disregard them at your peril.

7. There has been a movement to simplify
lifestyles - you just don't hear about it much..

Myself, I was sick of fighting LA traffic and smog, even tho we lived in a nice little town north of LA you still had to deal with the cars that needed to get to the rest of California..

When we shipped our cars over it took us three plus hours to drive to Long Beach, scary traffic, etc.. I told my wife, "You know when we pick the cars up, we'll have to drive 8 miles to our new home, and the speed limit will be 40 miles per hour.."

The ocean here has been declared to be one of the least damaged biospheres out of 5 on the planet.

Gonna be hard to get used to diesel powered modems tho :)

Then again, after the Santorum, Harris, Novak meltdown today, things look a mite brighter..

Still, I have a six month old son to consider, looking at him and thinking about what kind of world he'll inherit scares the crap out of me.

Forget about Little League son, we have to think about Kung Fu lessons, learn how to throw knives, Tai Chi, Yoga, how to shoot from the hip, and charm school.. and then you'll need a lot of just plain shiny old gold, the standard anywhere on the planet...

Luckily I mined the stuff (just one of the funky jobs I had in Alaska) and learned a lot about self reliance in the bush after ten years up north.

A trip to New Zealand may be in order as well, heard it's lovely with good folks.
