"Viveca" isn't a common name:

18. Not Since the 12th of Never!
It sure isn't "ethical!" Their definition of "ethical" far differs from our own. Of course, that goes without saying...

at the end of the article found by following the accompanying link: This article was written in January of '04.

Comments:
I will point out here what I have pointed out elsewhere: Bob Novak's daughter broke this story for Time. Clearly, Novak senior wanted it leaked that Administration officials were being urged to sign the waiver. Now that the story is out, they cannot refuse (the White House has already promised "full cooperation" with the investigation). So, Novak is making sure that he is released from his vows. Why? Most likely to avoid contempt of court jail time.

Edit to add: I know this isn't proof positive--but, somebody seems absolutely sure, here. If true, it's important info.

This is very curious indeed. Why is Novak's daughter involved in writing this stuff?

13. Well, aside from questions re: the parentage of one writer - what about
the actual substance of this article? It's acually rather damning information:

As the investigation tightens into the leak of the identity of covert CIA operative Valerie Plame, sources tell TIME some White House officials may have learned she was married to former ambassador Joseph Wilson weeks before his July 6, 2003, Op-Ed piece criticizing the Administration. That prospect increases the chances that White House official Karl Rove and others learned about Plame from within the Administration rather than from media contacts.

Regardless of who Viveca Novak is, this is actually a very key piece of information.

Eyes on the prize, folks, eyes on the prize...

14. What do you think about this?

By JOHN DICKERSON AND VIVECA NOVAK

Ummm, Viveca Novak?!? That's Robert Novak's daughter. That seems fairly relevent to this story. Here's Bob Somerby on Viveca carrying water for her daddy the Prince of Darkness...

At any rate, months went by and not a peep from the avenging IC about Vile. Not a word of the “parallel case” concerning sexual harassment Novak said would be sent to the Congress. And wouldn’t you know it, there came the day when the knight’s own daughter would pen these remarks, written for all the world to see, right there in the pages of Time:
Ok from one angle that makes this article even *more* interesting. I seem to recall that Novak was looking for an out. You *do* remember the waiver thingy right?...

From the TIME article:

In December, the FBI asked some administration staffers to sign a waiver releasing reporters from confidentiality agreements in connection with any conversations they had about the Wilson affair. Novak's attorney, Jim Hamilton, had no comment about the latest developments.

It would seem Nofacts is using his daughter to push the waiver thingy since that allows him to preserve whatever credibility he thinks he still has while cooperating with the grand jury. This also allows him to avoid becoming bubba's bitch in a federal penitentiary for obstruction of justice.

On the other hand... WTF IS UP WITH NOT MENTIONING YOU ARE RELATED TO THE PERSON YOU ARE WRITING ABOUT!?! But I guess I can let that mendacity slide if this helps get the frog march for turd blossum revved up.

Big stuff! I'm getting more optimistic day by day now. Rats, ship, sinking, yaaaaarrrrrrrh!!!

16. Well, have found out that Novak is her maiden name.
Edited on Sun Jul-31-05 08:12 PM by rateyes
VIVECA NOVAK
According to this info from following link, she is married to a Robert Lenhard. So, she is not married to Alex Novak, Bob's son.

And, considering Robert Novak's bio has him married to two different wives, but only one son, as in a previous post--I'm betting she's not his daughter. Lucky for her!

<snip>

Novak is a native of Washington, D.C., and holds a B.A. in foreign relations from the University of Virginia and a Masters in journalism from Columbia. She also completed a fellowship in law for journalists at Yale. She is married to Robert Lenhard, a lawyer for AFSCME.

http://www.cnn.com/ALLPOLITICS/1996/analysis/bios/frames/time/dc.bureau/novak.html

Edit to add: I do find it interesting thought that in one article I found it said that Bob Novak is a member of Opus Dei.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Novak

I don't know much about the organization, but know that some claim it is RW and fascist---My apologies if anyone is offended--a person's religion is their own business...until it interferes with someone else's freedom.

20. There seems to be an earlier Time article bylined Robert and Viveca:
Scrolling down on the link http://www.hyperlaw.com/hlnews.htm you will find:

*Viveca Novak and Michael Novak, The Cheerful Giver, Time Magazine, April 21, 1997, Page 80. Article About Vance Opperman, Anti-Trust, and Political Contributions

But this last link no longer connects to the indicated 1997 Time article ...
