Environmental regulations WORK (to the anti-gummint FOOLS)!
http://news.yahoo.com/?tmpl=story&u=/washpost/20030927/ts_washpost/a7586_2003sep26

"A new White House study concludes that environmental regulations are well worth the costs they impose on industry and consumers, resulting in significant public health improvements and other benefits to society. The findings overturn a previous report that officials now say was defective."

"The report, issued this month by the Office of Management and Budget, concludes that the health and social benefits of enforcing tough new clean-air regulations during the past decade were five to seven times greater in economic terms than were the costs of complying with the rules. The value of reductions in hospitalization and emergency room visits, premature deaths and lost workdays resulting from improved air quality were estimated between $120 billion and $193 billion from October 1992 to September 2002."

There IS a reason (Not all perfect mind you) for many laws and regulations...I just wish our "The government that governs least is the best" people would realize that and be more fucking OBJECTIVE!

1. Environment+Public Health
The savings are in health care costs - something often overlooked. The $$ saved in healthcare actually reflects children who can't breathe, heart attacks, respiratory ailments that can cause permanent damage.
I guess now that the Republicans see a dollar savings it has meaning to them.
Now, will this translate into fixing the mess Bush made of the Clean Air Act - or did they knowlingly intend to let the old plants off the hook BEFORE this report came out?

2. It is amazing, it really is. I used to think that most everyrone...
...was hoping to improve Life.

Obviously that was many years ago but perhaps the greedy fucks will get an erection over profits and do the right thing anyway...Sort of like osmosis...
