Is Rove cheating on his wife??
As the Bush administration’s resident bulldog, Karl Rove has never been shy about using personal attacks for political gain. But as the Plame scandal rages on, will he find himself fending off politically motivated charges about his own personal life?

Last Sunday, in a blistering column in the New York Times, Frank Rich claimed that just as the White House was leaking Valerie Plame’s undercover CIA status, Rove’s office was simultaneously “outing” gay ABC correspondent Jeffrey Kofman after he reported on the flagging morale of troops in Iraq. Rich accused Rove of fostering a “pervasive culture of revenge” in the White House. Now, the Republican rumor-monger may be in for a taste of his own medicine.

For years, political insiders in Texas have discreetly whispered about Rove’s close friendship with lobbyist Karen Johnson, a never-married, forty-something GOP loyalist from Austin. The two first became friendly when Johnson sat on the board of then-Governor George W. Bush’s Business Council over a decade ago, but their relationship reportedly deepened after the president appointed Johnson—a little-known spokesperson for the Texas Good Roads Association—to a seat on his Transportation Department transition team in 2000. The plum appointment enabled Johnson’s lobbying firm, Infrastructure Solutions, to snare such high-paying clients as Aetna and the City of Laredo. She now frequently travels between Washington D.C. and Austin where, sources say, she is a frequent presence at Rove’s side during parties and official functions.

Although there is no evidence that their relationship is anything but professional, their close association has long raised eyebrows in conservative Texas circles. Asked about the pair, a prominent political journalist who has written extensively about Rove says, “I’ve heard the stories, but I would never write about Karl and Karen. If you want to keep your job as a reporter in Texas, you make believe you don’t see them together.” But as the political climate in Washington grows more poisonous, their relationship has come under increasing scrutiny from Democrats and more crusading elements of the Texas press. Does the man who learned his tricks from Nixon henchman Donald Segretti have some dirty laundry of his own?

Asked about Rove’s friendship with Johnson, a White House spokesman declined to discuss the matter, saying that their relationship was “the business of these two individuals who have personal lives. I don’t think that’s something that the White House should comment on,” he said firmly.

10. He's married with one son
"Rove married a young woman named Valerie Wainright, whose family was in the Bush social circle in Houston. (The marriage didn't last long, and Rove remarried in 1986; he and his wife, Darby, have one son.)"

17. The Rove bio on the Web shows no wife - indeed suggests that he is gay
Excerpts:

when Rove was 19 he learned (during his parents' divorce) that the man who raised him was not his biological father. Rove's mother committed suicide in Reno, Nevada, in 1981

In 1970, as a protege of Donald Segretti (later convicted as a Watergate conspirator), Rove snuck into the campaign office of Illinois Democrat Alan Dixon and stole some letterhead, which he used to print fake campaign rally fliers promising "free beer, free food, girls and a good time for nothing," and distributed them at rock concerts and homeless shelters. Rove admitted the incident years later

Rove dropped out of the University of Utah in 1971

In 1986, just before a crucial debate in the election for governor of Texas, Karl Rove announced that his office had been bugged by the Democrats, but no proof was provided. It was later claimed by critics that Rove had bugged his own phone to garner media coverage.

In 2000, Rove masterminded a push poll during the South Carolina primaries which asked potential voters "Would you be more likely or less likely to vote for John McCain for president if you knew he had fathered an illegitimate black child?". Since McCain was campaigning with his adopted Bangladeshi daughter, an image quickly gathered around that statement.

Rove ignored the fact that the U.S. Senate, including liberals, voted unanimously to authorize the use of military force in retaliation for the September 11th terrorist attacks, and on June 23, 2005, said "Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 in the attacks and prepared for war; liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers."

Karl Rove is a Norwegian-American obsessed with the "historical duplicity" of the Swedes, who seized Norway back in 1814 - hence his hatred for Swedish weapons inspector Hans Blix.

In a high point of Time Magazine’s history of powerful journalistic coverage, a 2001 report revealed that George W. Bush’s pet name for Rove is "Turd Blossom." No, really. Do you think it reflects on his preferred sex acts?

Karl cheating on his wife with a women, if Karl is married and if there is women he hangs with, seems unlikely given the reports that Karl hangs out in the gay night clubs and the likelyhood he is the one who introduced the white house bunch to Jeff Gannon, the white house shill plant that attended all of the white house news conferences without any credentials on day passes issued by Rove’s request and had the free roam of the white house on many occasions like he was one of the family, not having to sign in or out like a normal guest despite Gannon having had 3 0r 4 web sites where he appeared with his crotch shots and advertise himself at $100.00 bucks an hour or $1200.00 bucks for the weekend as a male prostitute....how did Karl know him and why wasn’t he outed at the time of that scandal are questions for our media.

26. not nasty...accurate
"This word has an origin that relates to 'quack.' 'Toady' originated from the word 'toadeater', which is synonymous with 'toady.' A 'toadeater' was a quack's or mountebank's assistant who would eat, or pretend to eat, a toad so he could be cured by the medicine man. In those days, toads were considered to be poisonous. Actually, a toad's parotoid glands and warts do secrete a poison that tastes bad and in some species will kill small predators."

http://www.doggedresearch.com/toadswords/words/excursus15.htm

Merriam Webster definition:

Main Entry: toady
Pronunciation: 'tO-dE
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural toad·ies
Etymology: by shortening & alteration from toadeater
: one who flatters in the hope of gaining favors : SYCOPHANT
synonym see PARASITE

Fits Karl to a tee.

31. Daily Kos is reporting Rove's wife is a "raging liberal"
Do we have the reverse of the Carville/Matlin union?

I always wondered why anyone would want to marry such an opposite? Ewwww!

In a fortuitious coincidence, Jerome and I have just finished interviewing a long-time Texas political writer here in Austin who says that Rove is absolutely having an affair with Karen. Rove is married and has a teenaged son. According to this writer, Rove's wife is a hardcore liberal. "I don't know how he and his wife get along," he said.

Well, quite obviously, they do not.

Edited on Tue Jul-26-05 04:37 PM by rainbow4321
Wish they would put HER on cable news...maybe she can go a second round with him?

http://www.ocnus.net/artman/publish/article_19302.shtml

1960: At age 10, he becomes a Republican, supporting Nixon in his losing race to John F. Kennedy. A meanie girl who's a Kennedy supporter beats him up.

FALL 1970: Rove pays visit to Chicago campaign headquarters of Alan Dixon, a Democrat running for state treasurer. Disguised as a volunteer, Rove steals official campaign letterhead and sends out 1,000 invitations to people in the city's red-light district and soup kitchens, offering "free beer, free food, girls, and a good time for nothing" at Dixon headquarters. When hundreds of homeless and alcoholic Chicagoans show up at a fancy Dixon reception, Rove succeeds in embarrassing the candidate. Dixon still wins the election.

1979: Wainwright divorces Rove

1986: Rove marries Darby Hickson, a graphic designer for his company. Advises Bill Clement in his tight but successful Texas gubernatorial race.
