What source is Judy Miller really protecting......

<snip>
The Web of Lies Runs Deeper
by Anthony Wade
July 23, 2005

We have sat by for months now waiting for the web to completely untangle. We waited while we saw the White House Press Pool finally awaken from their slumber. We waited while we watched the target move from unnamed administration officials, to Karl Rove and now Scooter Libby. I keep waiting for this administration to blink, but surprisingly, they still have not. Sure, they trotted out John Roberts far earlier than they intended to try and smokescreen the press, but aside from that, this administration still acts like they are in this poker game. The still act as if there are other cards yet to be played.

That means the web runs deeper than this, far deeper. You need proof? Ask yourself one question then, why is Judy Miller still willing to rot in jail? The press and others have tried their level best to make Miller into a saint, but the truth is she is a criminal. She is not protecting a source, but rather, THE source of the treason at the heart of this story. I thought originally it was Karl Rove but Judy still sat in prison even after Rove publicly said that he released all reporters he spoke to from their confidentiality. Then I thought it might be Libby, but the Cooper testimony now reveals the proof that Libby is also involved. With that out in the open, it is no longer Libby whom Miller is protecting. Who is it then Judy?

<snip>

....Miller NEVER wrote a story (to smear Wilson), never mentioned that Wilsons wife worked for the CIA, yet there she still sits in jail. That removes any pretense of her protecting a journalistic source. No, she is protecting (HER) source. Her inside the administration source that had not only told her the national secret of Valerie Plames identity, but also had told her all of the other lies about Saddam and WMD that made her the media darling she was three years ago. It is THOSE lies that have led us to war and taken the lives of at least 1,800 American soldiers. It is those lies she is really protecting. Who is your source Judy? Who are you protecting?

<snip>

The web tightens, Fitzgerald suddenly gets closer. Miller is willing to go to jail to avoid revealing the name of the person who violated federal law, compromised the security of this nation, and committed treason. Fitzgerald is now discussing the possibility of changing Millers contempt charge to a criminal charge. Kudos to him. Until Miller is willing to tell us who the real criminal is, she is an accomplice and needs to be treated as such. She is holding the last card this administration has left in this poker game. That is the card that unravels the rest of the web. It leads back to impeachable offenses that have led to deaths of at least 1,800 brave American soldiers. Dead for lies concocted three years ago designed to convince us to go to war.

Judy Miller sold us that war based on the lies given to her by her administration sources. Now she refuses to give those sources up and expose the truth for all to see. She is willing to stay in jail in defiance of Fitzgerald, and in defiance of all that is still decent in this country. It is her sources in conjunction with the Downing Street Memos which can take down this administration and put an end to this poker game. Until Judith Miller is willing to show us her cards, she should rot in jail. The blood of the lives lost because of her lies demands nothing less.

12. I think she's making a point of being silent to save her own life
She knows a lot about the lies in the run-up to the Iraq War, having written many of them herself. She knows more than she wrote, and with this Administration, that's dangerous. It would be easy to arrange an "accident" or murder in prison and she knows it. So she is shouting out how silent she will be no matter what, hoping that she will not be silenced permanently.

Just think of all the sludge that would spill out if she were put under oath and asked the right questions. The Bush Administration enforcers know it and will not let that happen, one way or another.

14. We may never know, but the theories all start with Bolton .......
....... then some include Cheney (not 'scooter' ..... cheney hizownself).

She famously said she feared for herself. That may be why she's staying mum, but I doubt it. I took that statement as theatrics.

... the deception of the American people and the Congress in her incessant propaganda for launching and then apologizing for Bush's illegal war of aggression on Iraq.

Judy is using the 1st as if it were the 5th. Soon, even that deception will be denied her.

Peace.

Here's my theory: Miller is/was on the WH payroll, paid to write stories for the NYT that support the Bushco Iraq war narrative. Who set her up with Chalabi? Ultimately, it goes to Cheney. She's not going to testify, ever, because she's afraid that agents of the Iraqi National Congress will be waiting for her some night in her apartment. If she tells the truth about the Wilson/Plame story, she may have to answer questions about her involvement in the Chalabi/Cheney/WMD story--which would, without question, bring down Bushco.

19. I don't like these parts:
"She is holding the last card this administration has left in this poker game. "

"It is her sources in conjunction with the Downing Street Memos which can take down this administration and put an end to this poker game."

The author is giving poker a bad name.

20. What gets me, is that someone is sitting there while
she is in jail. How can they not feel guilty?
You would think her source would come out so she could at least get out of jail.

21. Fitz already knows and has spoken to Miller's gov't "contact" so the ID
Edited on Sun Jul-24-05 04:44 PM by Garbo 2004
is not in question. And the contact had signed a waiver of confidentiality. No doubt the "contact" gave up Miller's name since someone who talked to investigators or testified had to introduce her name into the investigation since she didn't write a story.

Likely Fitz is looking for Miller's testimony to either confirm or deny what the contact told him/grand jury.

Just as with Cooper and also for example with Russert. Not just who disseminated the leak but also perhaps to confirm or not confirm who the gov't official claims to have heard the Plame story from, if the official is claiming to have gotten the info from the press.

Did the gov't official provide info to Miller as a "source?" Or did the gov't official claim Miller told him about Plame?

I recall it was reported somewhere that Miller met/talked with Libby? Supposedly Libby claimed Russert told him about Plame and Russert said no he didn't know about Plame at the time and didn't tell Libby.

And then of course there's Bolton....who the oped author suspects it was.
