Dean has 4 days left to raise over $3 mill
I just checked the bat, for some unknown reason Dean supporters haven't been posting updates on this like they have in the past on other bat challenges. Anyway, it says he has raised about 1,700,000 as of 3PM ET. This is going to be tough to meet their goal of $5 million by the end of September. At this point, they may not make even $3 million total.

1. My Understanding Is That They're Counting on the Online AND Offline Totals
To boost him over the top at the last minute. They are pointing to the September 29 house parties, in particular.

Mikey died from Pop Rocks and Coke.

The dude that plays Gilligan died when a radio fell in the tub.

Mr. Green Jeans is Ted Nugent's dad.

On edit: oh shoot actually your post makes more sense than I thought at first. Sorry I accused it of being an urban legend!

16. True, Dove...it's a total goal for the last 10 days of the quarter,
not just an online goal. Dean has a ton of house parties scheduled this weekend and the mail-in contributions should be starting to arrive just now.

I think Trippi set the bar high this time, but it looks like they'll make it.

7. I'm almost at my limit
Trying to hold back a few bucks in case there's a great fundraiser next quarter, but essentially pushing it to the $2000 limit.

I have bills to pay and a family, but this is important to me. Besides the money, I give a lot of my time and energy to this campaign, because I believe -- for once -- that I can make a difference.

4. I hope he does it
Any democratic candidate that can raise 5 million in that amount of time must be in pretty good shape.

6. Glad you're checkin' the bat...
It's hopping today.

No way to know if they will hit $5 Mil, but it's going to be close, with off-line and rally money coming in at the end.

Are you asking us to keep hourly updates on this site? Heh. Love to. :)
But I know it annoyed some people, a bit like rubbing it in.

Keep watching...you are going to be impressed...

8. What's his stance on corporate welfare?
Has he taken a position on the issue of corporate welfare...other than a vague bromide-type slogan?

I'm not a Dean supporter, just an interested observer on this bat challenge.

9. it may have been a strategic mistake...
...to set a very high goal. The press will get all over any failure to meet the goal, questioning whether his momentum is lost.

17. Immature and off base. Let's try to keep on subject
Dean has made a whole lot of money online, that is a fact. But his lofty challenge of $5 mill doesn't seem like it is going to pan out and I'm not surprised. $5 mill is A LOT to ask for.

13. House calls have not been added in.
Our little small one alone has brought in several hundred. They are held Monday night, but many have donated online already through the House Call they will be attending.

There should be a good jump then. Also, much mail is still unopened.

14. Frankly we should all be pissed at the DNC
They chose the end of the quarter to their own on-line push for $500K calling it a deadline. What deadline? The DNC has no deadline of Sept. 30.

We'll make it. There are still bags of unopened mail to be processed before the deadline.

18. We can't win with you
It isn't some unknown reason that we aren't posting tons of update threads. It is because, not without justification, we got complaints about posting too many of those threads in June. So we discipline ourselves and now we get your swarmy post. BTW there is a thread on the bat in P and C as I type. But just one not the several we posted in June.
