Sudden thought about right wing "Rovegate" spin...
Has anybody heard right wing loonies announce "Joe Wilson is a liar. Dick Cheney didn't send him, like he claimed."?

Besides being a lie in itself, it raises interesting questions....So Cheney didn't CARE that a fake memo was bolstering the case for war? He didn't want to know that an obvious and glaring fraud WAS a fraud before he pushed for war? Why the hell not?

4. There's no reason to "retaliate" against Wilson
except among those who spent time and effort trying to create the forgery....

Someone made the point that 60 minutes tried to do a story on the Niger document and the WH kicked and screamed so much that CBS spiked the story.

Yet, when they tried to do the story about the TANG document, there was silence from the WH.

Just one of those things that make you go "hmmmmm".

6. Remember....
It hasn't even been proved that the TANG document IS a forgery....just that it can't be authenticated beyond a reasonable doubt.

And for all the right wing liying, Chimpy still deserted rather than pee in a cup as he was ordered to...

7. It always comes back to "I don't care if they were forged.
We shouldn't have known they were forged documents in the first place".

And somehow that makes it all ok.

9. Strange, isn't it?
And of course, the young Republican blowhards loudly claiming that it doesn't matter why we're at war are the ones reluctant to actually go themselves...

8. The fake memos came out of Italy...
Cheney ordered the CIA to investigate Saddam connection to Niger. The CIA in turn asked VP if she thought her husband would be interested because of his expertise in this area.

Joe Wilson came back, filed his report with the CIA, what the CIA did with the report,- whether they sent it to Cheney or not is unknown. Those 16 famous words were said and CIA Tenet ends up apologizing for the screw-up

10. And they were REALLY fake...
and filled with errors...

So why didn't Cheney WANT to know? Why WASN'T he demanding that Wilson go check it out?
