If they do, can we get rid of them once and for all? How many senators lost their jobs after voting for Clarence Thomas? I can make a case that Alan Dixon was arguably at least one.

| 2. So you are claiming one? |

I bet they will take their chances. One? The evidence against doing it is underwhelming.

I'm asking how many. As in, who else? I'm sure there were more, but this is the one I know about, because it was here in Illinois.

although perhaps occasionally moderate, and Dixon was a D, although occasionally conservative. Dixon was Illinois, and the largest vote getter in the history of the state at the time. He'd never lost an election, but after the Thomas vote, he lost a three way primary to Carol Mosely Braun. Was Simpson Wyoming?

| 5. Investigation & Hearings Are Key |

If they can dig anything up on him, or his prior involvements, and then somehow damage his credibility during the hearings, then there might be a chance. If they find out little more than they know at this point, and he comes out looking like a wonderful guy in September, then it's trouble.
The rove machine will try to put this guy in a great light for the next few weeks, talking about how much he's done, etc., while avoiding the negatives.
It's up to the press corps to keep the questions on the Treason that was committed in '03, and not give the administration to opportunity to change the subject to how "perfect" this Roberts candidate is.
