Yeah, keep fighting, that's perfect
Look, both the "Don't forget the DSM and Rove" people and the "Fight Roberts" people are on the same side ultimately. One side is not being short-sighted, just picking their fight. The other side is not talking capitulation, just picking THEIR fight.

So, Team Roberts, you go THAT way.

And Team DSM/Rove, YOU go THAT way.

Don't let Bush Co. divide us. Pick your fights and have at it. But for fuck's sake, don't fight EACH OTHER! What a waste of energy.

3. Why can't we just keep hitting them with ALL of it? Like a
pitching machine that got stuck? Just keep throwing the balls and hitting them so much that they are overwhelmed and nuts?

Thanks for the post - it was needed. We are all on the same side...

Freepers excepted, of coarse. (My, there seems to be a whole nest of the little crawlies here tonight.)

6. Finally, a uniter not a divider...
I completely agree. Molly Ivins once said "trying to organize democrats is like trying to herd cats", and while I believe this is essentially true, I also think we have the ability to disagree but still maintain our foucus on a common goal. At least we better hope we do if we want to have any hope of defeating the well oiled repuke attack machine!:kick:

7. The stakes are too big for us to become divided
we must stand together or fall apart.

Now, there is an argument to be made for not wasting money and time on some issues over others. However, I will let others make it. Whatever Du'ers decide to do, it will not change the fact that we are one family

10. I'm So Happy I found DU: Home of True Democracy & Reality-Based Folks
Thanks "LittleClarkie" for that kindly reminder. As Democrats, your post points out just what we're really all about and that is groups of so many various Americans from even more individual walks-of-life. And yes, we debate, we argue, we disagree but we're united just the same, regardless.

11. This is the logic and reason that gets lost here sometimes
People pick one position and are offended by people who take another position - even if both positions are strong liberal/Democratic postions. I agree with you - we're going to have to share the General Discussion board amongst both groups. I think we can do it.

15. Not genius
But if it's common sense (which ain't so common) then it's good to be on the greatest page where people will see it.

Because even if it's been posted a million times tonight, several of us ain't gettin' the message.

Btw, I didn't rephrase nuthin'. Who do you think I am, Biden? I couldn't stand to sift through all the crap on the board tonight. So me and a million other folks came up with the same idea, independant-like. :D

26. I don't believe I'm alone
I can't be, we're able to address more than one issue at a time. I know we are. WE are not mindless sheep driven by the whim of the POTUS. We are more, so much more than that.

I don't care who welcomes me or who doesn't. This is much larger than that.

21. Why do we have to be on one team or the other?
We're all DUers, right?

If some bad-guy arse needs to be kicked, let's kick it. Just because there are multiple arses to be kicked doesn't mean we can't handle it, it just means we get a little busier. If Roberts is a bad egg it won't take our focus off of Rove or DSM. We'll just keep working, albeit a bit harder.

We're DUers. We can handle it. :patriot:

22. We don't. But some people only feel passionately about one fight.
And I think the OP's point is that those people can lead their fight of choice. Both fights are VERY important for the here & now and our future.

Edited on Wed Jul-20-05 12:29 AM by Lone_Star_Dem
What each person does after that is personal, but that's the point isn't it, this is personal. It's all about who we are and what we stand for in this life.

If you're going to talk the talk, then walk the walk, as they say.

a virtual Town Hall meeting, intelligently and passionately discussing issues, educating each other, practicing REAL debate, going out to the real world and passing this information on to a few friends, educating them, who in turn educate others....nah, nothing we do here really matters.

You are right, we should all turn off our computers, tear down the internets, turn on the MSM and be good little sheeple. Thanks for the enlightenment.

33. A solitary issue does not decide the quality of all our lives.
We want to encourage involvement in all our issues and fighting amongst ourselves works against that. I gleefully greet news that shows the Repugs infighting over Iraq, Social Security, the Federal Deficit or Roe vs Wade (in no particular order). We would do well to realize that those that aren't actively supporting an issue, are probably watching our backs on other issues. Thanks LittleClarkie. :applause:

37. Absolutely...we need to discuss and debate
in a rational manner....not fight each other. Reasoned debate is healthy. Infighting is not.

There are enough of us here to press on all fronts. Each of us is passionate about one issue or another. We each need to work to our strength and passion.

Our diversity, our stubborn cantankerous belief that every individual is precious and has a voice that should be heard defines us as liberals/progresives/Democrats...and our unity in spite of this diversity is our greatest strength.
