Poll question: How Long Before Rove "resigns"
Edited on Sat Jul-16-05 06:11 PM by dooner
We know it's coming, surely. How long before they throw Karl overboard?

1. Those people never resign.
You have to march in and drag them out and then try them for war crimes.

2. I've gotta vote with the majority here
They'll fight tooth and nail to keep KKKarl. You think they're tenacious about Bolton? Janice Rodgers Brown? Gonzalez? Pfah! That's nothing compared to the fight they'll put up for Rove.

But NOT because he's such a political genius (although I'm having serious doubts about that). He's going to stay because he's a LOYAL INSIDER. Yes, that 'special' group of plotters, schemers and sycophants who prraise the president every day while doing the most shocking things imaginable.

They are: Cheney, Condi, Scooter, Rumsfeld, Gonzalez (a new addition), Libby, Karen Hughes, and ROVE.

If one goes down, all the others will gather round in support.

3. They'll have to detach him from Dubya...
... before they can do anything with him. He's Bush's security blanket.

But, just thought about this. They only have to tough this out for another 10-12 days or so, and then they get a break. August recess is coming up. Congress goes away, Bush goes to Crawford and Rove can disappear. Fitzgerald will have to let Miller stew in stir for a while before she finally gives in, and when she does, her testimony will only complicate figuring out what actually went on. Then, after Labor Day, they'll roll out their new sales campaign for war against Iran.

This could take several more months. The grand jury expires the end of October. If Miller's testimony isn't forthcoming in that time, does he convince a judge that a new grand jury should be convened, or does he do without her testimony? If he gets a new grand jury, that new jury would have to hear all the evidence again. We might not hear anything substantial about this until Christmas. By then, everyone will be distracted by the drums of war against Iran....

Will be interesting to see what happens in the next couple of weeks....

4. seems like they wouldn't
sacrifice Karl, not because they can't live without him, but because he knows so much. He might get the kid glove treatment as they put up the double secret firewalls. Mutual insider support society. I'm guessing. Anybody else on this wave?

5. can you say 'medal of freedom'?
rove is not going anywhere, even if he loses his job. who else is as good a hitman as kkkarl? he is irreplaceable and will not go down.

getting fired means nothing. he needs to go to jail for any justice to be realized. even then, he can probably operate out of prison . . . just like any good don.

no one is meaner or better at dirty tricks than kkkarl. it would be nice if someone could find a chink in his armor . . . or skeleton in his closet. something that would really take him down.

7. Forget about it
They won't let him resign. Coz once out of the White House's protection, he can be made to squeal like the pig he is about all the dirty little secrets
