If that's some kind of gov't policy, it's reprehensible. If it's an internal policy on the part of Islamic clerics, it's their own business.

BUT the context made it seem that some Islamic leaders would no longer tolerate any Muslim saying such things

there was also comment on the Islamic population in Britain....that many young men were saying these things and some mosques were supporting such beliefs.......this cleric said in his mosque that such comments/beliefs would absolutely no longer be supported nor tolerated

and the context of the NPR report implied that these 2 beliefs were totally weird and off-the-wall and shouldn't be tolerated by anyone

the government has no business banning such discussion in a religious building.

If I want to belong to a religion that believes the moon is made of green cheese, the earth is flat and the Holocaust was a fake, that is my right, and none of the government's business.

protect and preserve Capitalism. I guess that falls under the umbrella of protecting Amerika but not necessarily protecting Democracy. Having read seveal books about the CIA, they don't give a damn about Democracy or Human Rights.
