Ed Shultz Kicks Rush's Ass
Advance trend numbers for spring radio ratings in the Miami market, leaked to RAW STORY, reveal that liberal talk posted hefty gains against the once-indomitable Rush Limbaugh.

In particular, The Ed Schultz show actually passed Limbaugh among the 25-54 age range in the nation's twelfth largest radio market. Schultz scored a 3.4 rating to Limbaugh's 3.2, climbing 1.1 ratings points from the winter figures.

“In his own backyard, how can Limbaugh lose to a liberal talker? What am I doing with a 3.4 and he’s sitting with a 3.2?” Schultz asked RAW STORY in a telephone interview this morning. “We come a long way from being the poor little guy from North Dakota.”

1. This is good news, even if some here have problems with Shultz
I mean, siphoning off Rush's listeners is a good thing.

Only a moderate could do that, but at this point, I'll take that.

7. Except that Randi routinely beat Limbaugh...

... when she was broadcasting out of Florida. Limbaugh, in fact, has a stipulation in his contract with Clear Channel that forbids Clear Channel from syndicating Randi nationwide.

Limbaugh's huge audience is not the result of Limbaugh's popularity, but the result of simple math. Very seldom has he had the highest rated show in any one market. But since he is broadcast in more markets than any one else, twenty 3rd place finishes adds up to more listeners than five 1st place finishes.

17. SHE STILL DOES!
1290 WJNO still has Randi (why do people thing she is NOT still on that stations?! Heh?!) and Lardass gets TURD for ratings before her from Noon to 3PM (in Miami, Limpnoodle, and Glenn Pecker Beck, have they ass HANDED to him by the GREAT Neil Rogers on 560 WQAM!), meanwhile, guess who is #1 from 3 PM to 7 PM?! OH YEAH, THAT WOULD BE RANDI RHODES!

2. I may not agree with everything Schultz says
But I am sure glad he is kicking Lush Limpballs' hateful bigoted fat ass.

3. Schultz sounds like Limbaugh, doesn't he?
I'm not referring to the content of what he says, but his speaking style and delivery reminds me a lot of the lardassed orator.

I haven't been listening to Schultz for very long, but what I've heard from him recently sounds pretty liberal to me.

9. You're right. When I get in the car and I hear Schultz, I immediately
start to reach for the dial til I realize I am NEVER on Ruch's station. He, at times, sounds exactly like Rush.

10. He sounds JUST LIKE Limpballs and in my case,
that's one strike against him. ;) He's way too moderate for my tastes...I LIKE RADICAL...Randi Rhodes and Malloy do it for me. Schultz is OK, but there's no way on earth he should get more XM air time than Malloy or Randi. There's no comparison. And don't get me started on Alan Colmes being on in Mike Malloy's time slot. UGH! My radio listening pleasure just isn't the same without the 4 hours of Randi during the day and 3 hours of Malloy at night. :(

Anyway, I'm glad Schultz kicks Limpball's ass in the ratings. That's a good thing. :)

14. more moderate, yeah...but..
I see him as a 'front door' - a guy who can win back working people that have seen liberals throught the filters of right wing propaganda (ie. liberals are all hippies or alternately, liberals are rich elitists). Schultz let's people know that liberal politics favor the working people of the world and that truly, economics is the key here...not wedge issues like choices regarding religion.

I'm with you, Malloy is really my favorite, but as someone else said, Schultz has his place and is winning over a lot of people to 'our side'.

16. Malloy
Malloy is fun to listen to at times but he sounds like he is consumed by his own hatred. It's almost like he's close to losing it. I can only listen to him scream and spew forth venom for so long. But yes, he is a great broadcaster.

4. Great News! and even though many DU'ers don't care for Schultz
he's great at scapping those who are sick of Limbaugh but used to him and his RW Swill.

Schultz will peel them off and teach them a thing or two. Not everyone can listen to the AAR lineup when they've been brainwashed by Rush and like his "style" *cough, cough*

Franken would seem like a weenie to them.. Shultz is so important to us breaking into the RW Lock.

:woohoo:

6. Schultz has a place, as does Springer, as does Colmes, as does AAR
UNLIKE THE THUGS, Dems/Libs/Progressives are not all LOCK-STEP WITH THE REICH...

Each of the different voices like Schultz/Colmes/Springer/et.al. appeals to a different segment of the population, each has their own 'appeal' that can pull folks from the other side...

we may not agree with everthing that Schultz/Colmes/Springer says, but every set of ears they pull away from the Rush/O'Riley/Hannity/Savage/etc.. it one more set of opened eyes...

8. I like "big Eddie"... in spite of
Edited on Thu Jul-14-05 02:35 PM by Union Thug
some differences. I'm further to the left, but Schultz speaks to the working person better than folks like Franken, for example. He's a big supporter of unions and labor, and for that, I give him two thumbs up. Schultz defies the stereotypes that the Right has created around what a liberal is supposed to be. In this sense, he's the kind of liberal that I grew up with...hunters, fisherman, blue collar guys who understand and knew what class-consciousness really means.

So, regardless of our differences, Schultz is what we need to bring people back to the Democratic party.

11. ...
Limbaugh is a coward. People like Schultz, Malloy, and others at least have the courage to take on callers unscreened. People like that and have grown tired of phoney radio.

15. And may I add again (I've shilled for AAR before)
that it is so easy to put a sign in a back car window that reads
"Air America Radio". My sign also includes 940 AM. Not only does it increase the number of listeners, it also reminds the progressive audience to listen and get involved. And as a bonus, it really pisses off the wingnuts!
