"President Nixon" ?
Yesterday I saw a large SUV with two stickers on the back window. On the left was an American flag, and on the right was a bumper sticker that just said "President Nixon."

Can someone explain this one? Are there now people out there seeking to re-write history and paint Nixon as a persicuted victim? A noble and misunderstood man? Or was there some irony here that I'm just not getting???

Anyone?

2. There's plenty of people trying to do that...
To some, Nixon was one of -- if not THE -- greatest president of the 20th Century. Scary, but true.

4. I'd guess it's ironic.
Nixon lied about his war (well, LBJ's war) too; promised to reduce US involvement and draw down the troops, then starts a massive bombing campaign against Cambodia; then there are the scandal parallels...I can't really see anyuone having a "President Nixon" bumper sticker and it having a POSITIVE meaning, in today's political climate.

5. He's the one who opened China to the corporate elite AND
also became president in the year 3000. 'Futurama' said so, therefore it must be true.

7. Yorba Linda's Nixon Library has it's own WH, and HUGE Repub support
The Repubs really love tricky Dick. They rightly view his transgression(s) like the neocons view Oliver North's, the Shaw of Iran and dozens of brutal dictators and U.S. killers of foreign innocents. Nixon just got caught for what so many have done before.
The hypocracy's glowing corona can be seen with the outrage at Clinton's LYING to authorities about something the Repubs allege as a vital national issue...adultry.
PS; Nixon library doormen pass out complimentary barf bags, custodial employee suggestion idea of 2001. Bring your own mints.

9. I could not get over how they tried to rehabilitate Nixon on his death, &
was appalled that flags were hung at half mast.
