MSNBC Blog: McClellan vs. the press
If you have been watching, you know it's been a rough few days in the White House briefing room. Depending on your political views, you either think it's an unfair feeding frenzy or about time we pressed these guys on this story.

Let me just say this is what happens when government officials mislead the press. They have to be accountable for what they say. If you think we have a political agenda, I'd refer you to briefings during the Clinton days when Monica Lewinsky was the topic. Those were pretty rough, too. I think we, as a group, are so energized because the White House has been forced to change its story. They ought to be held accountable for that. Particularly since Scott McClellan absolved Karl Rove of any crime two years ago — also in the midst of the investigation.

1. i think it is great
he is not the first press secretary to deal with this sort of controversy. I mean, if he can't take the heat then he needs to resign. He is not very qualified anyways. He has had a honeymoon with the press for a very long time and i think he is partially involved with it as well. I say bring those jerks down hardcore and take no prisoners. The media is finally doing its job, which it hasn't done in 5 years.

3. "they knew it was coming"
Nobody thinks the grilling Scotty is getting is unfair, in fact it was expected.

I'm gonna say it again: with the special prosecuter on the QT, the leaked email on the leak came out for a reason. Either to soften the blow for whats to come or as a smokescreen

Scott McClellan did not 'absolve' Rove of anything. He has no more power or authority than my dog. Scottie is a mouthpiece, no more and no less. He doesn't make news, he doesn't direct policy, he has no legal authority. He said Rove had done no wrong and it was as meaningless as if my neighbor (an our of work coal miner) had said it.

Folks need to start getting things into perspective. It is Bush, Chaney, Rove, Rumsfeld, Bolton, and hordes more than are the criminals and Scott McClellan or no Scott McClellan there will be precious little absolution in any of their futures if this country wakes up.
