Vermont . . . "Is that in Canada?"
Hubby is watching a new MTV "Made" as I surf & source out some Plame/Rove info for my LTTE. I took a brief break & heard her "Made" coach tell her he was going to a snowboard competition in Vermont. "Is that in Canada?" she asked.

Please tell me this girl was just trying to be 'cute' for the camera. (Although, the other day when I talked to an acquaintance & they didn't know who Dick Cheney was, I was overcome by a sense of desperation.)

:banghead:

2. God, I wish we were all part of Canada, especially Vancouver. Ahhh, if
I could move my property to a sane, progressive, place like Canada. I know you were making another point. My vote is for "DUMB" on the girl. No one ever sees or hears of Cheney in the light of day so I can understand not knowing who he is. I wish I didn't.

3. I can top that
A contestant on Beauty and the Geek had no idea when D Day was and thought Columbus sailed in 1942. To top it off, she thought Hoover was President during the Civil War. The punchline is that she had gotten an A on a history final following that show.

4. I share your frustration.
Yet these same people think it's perfectly okay for us to impose our lifestyle and values on the rest of the world -- violently or otherwise -- because "we're #1" dammit!

I made a comment to a coworker (with a draftable son) about the possible complicity of Cheney in the Rove/Plame matter and she said, "I'm sorry, I'm just not informed enough to have any idea what you're talking about." But she thinks the war is a great thing because "we're saving those poor people from that guy!" (She meant Saddam, but she didn't even know his name or that he's in custody, only that he was a "bad guy.")

Apathy and stupidity are a deadly combination.

6. I remember a story before the Olympics in Atlanta
Some from New Mexico wanted to buy tickets, but was told that buyers from foreign countries had to follow a different route - do not remember the details.

8. Remember Bush and Charlotte Church?
Charlotte Church (a young singer from Wales) had a meeting with Shrub, and he asked her where she was from. She said "Wales", to which our ever enlightened leader replied, "what state is that in?"

All true.

10. Not that unusual, actually
I'm from Vermont. In my youth, I spent several weeks hitchhiking around the country. I was picked up by several people who, upon hearing where I was from asked me, "What state is that in?"

It's okay, though. Vermonters would prefer idiots not know where we are. ;)

12. BITE YOUR TONGUE!!!!!!
I would not sully my state with such a remark. We became an independent republic because we were sick of both New Hampshire and New York laying claim to us.

In New York! Sheesh! :nuke:
