How low has the press fallen that instead of exposing govt shit they are
helping keep it secret?

Just think, a reporter has Rove leaking a CIA agent's identity and somehow THAT's not the story.

Everyone knew it, but none could be bothered to pursue the story.

To think, the press once took down Nixon. Now they'd be turning in Deep Throat.

1. We have to be our own press
We have to be so loud out here on the blogs that the mainstream media cannot ignore it.

2. Even the local paper
when they have stories about it - it's more like stories of Rove's denials - than the accusations.

And I used to think the paper was more balanced than that.

3. Two guys and a gusty editor and owner took down Nixon. The rest
of the MSM did nothing until the WP got the story out.

5. I think nostalgia of how great American journalism used to be
is probably about as misplaced as the nostalgia of how great anything else used to be in this country.

4. But the press also has some good guys and we shouldn't

lump them all together. Democrats would be smart to court the press and avoid making negative comments against "the press" in general. IMHO, those reporters that I saw stand up to Scott McClellan this week were courageous and deserve our support.

Sorry, I don't mean to sound preachy. You do make a good point about the spin. Wouldn't it be nice to just hear/read the news without having to decode the spin, slant or angle?
