| I have the sinking feeling that we're going to be led into another war |
|
as a direct result of Bush, Blair, and their cohorts winning the interpretation battle over the London bombing. Unless we hold their feet to the fire over their complicity in the fueling of violence and hatred of our countries in the Arab world with their military meddling, and unless we hold them accountable for their ineptness as they have both now presided over the most devastating attacks on our countries in decades, they will lead a fearful public further down their paranoid road to more militarism and more fascist disregard of our rights.
Right now, outside of our net refuges and AAR, I don't see any active opposition. Bush has taken to mindlessly repeating everything Blair has said and I fear that it won't be a day before his machine has turned this into a pretext for wider war. I'll be relieved if, over the next 24hrs., we see our opposition find a more elevated platform and our voices rise above the warmongerers . . . we'll see.

stupid witless gutless scared shit believers want. WAR WAR WAR. Endless war.
However, I am putting stock in the common sense of the British people and the rest of the world. We cannot take on the world alone. We cannot do squat without others..and who is going to buy one damn word that lying Georgie porgie has to say now? Maybe the media repeats his lies as facts, but the rest of the world isn't that dumb.
And I know this is totally unpopular on DU, but I don't think Blair is either that dumb or that rotten. I think he will actually look for the real killers. What a concept.
And some that were caught unaware and busy(just trying to raise a family) like I are not so dumb anymore. I'm not buying into any more wars and anymore fantasies of believing my government has my best interests at heart. There HAS to be more of me know than them.

on this, and handles it much like a Democratic administration here would have likely handled 9-11. He already distinguished himself from Bush by heading home instead of hiding on airplanes 'out of harm's way' like our fearless leader did on 9-11.

With Iraq's recent friendship with Iran and their pressure to get the US out of Iraq I wouldn't be surprised if we faced a new war. We may not start it, but bush sure as hell got us on the road for it. Check the thread I started about this. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.ph...
