who else is freaked?
I work in a landmark bldg in a big city and I take the underground train to work everyday. I feel like I might as well have a target on my chest.

Everytime this kind of thing happens I get scared witless.

I am so sick of being at the mercy of the W posse and the chaos they are making in the world ...what the hell? Can I start my own country?

and now there is talk about this london bombing giving bush a bump in the polls ....what the fuck is wrong with people?

they would attack the largest military installation on the west coast. That kind of freaks me out.

7. No fear...
The neocons thrive on fear.

Try to get past your fear and move towards anger. Anger that they didn't do their jobs, that they didn't catch the bad guys, that they brought this upon us.

10. Fuck it. I was scared shitless in NY after 9/11...
but in light of what has happened to this country and the world in the name of my city, I say give me back my fucking liberty or give me death.

To me the possibility of living under tyranny scares me way more than being bombed.

13. A Bump In the Polls???
:wtf:

You have got to be kidding me. Bush has left our Southern border with Mexico open to allow all sorts of terrorists to pour through. Worldwide terrorism has increased. Obviously the terrorists are hitting not only in Iraq, but at home (in London).

A BUMP in the polls? I think this joker needs to be bumped out of office. With any luck that may happen when Rovegate is uncovered.

and we're taking the fight to them over there and they didn't attack us here because we are on to them here what with Homeland Security and all that. WTF did they name it "homeland security"? These guys are old enough to know the negative gut reaction to the term "homeland" regarding South Africa. bunch of arrogant bastards.

22. Welcome to DU Bushfungus-
Good user name- he is like a fungus eh?
Spreading all over the planet.

As far as the borders go- I will tell you
about my recent visit to the docks in
San Pedro, CA.

I took my daughter and her boyfriend to
board a boat to Catalina (graduation present to them.)

There were THOUSANDS of cargo containers there,
all of them marked "China." Walmart stock?
I don't know, but I kept thinking,
"HOW on earth can they know whether of not
one of those containers is actually filled with
Walmart crap?"

I started to have nuclear holocaust dreams
about Los Angeles that night.

I really think Homeland Security is a complete joke.

I feel really shaken and sick to my stomach.
I am not afraid of the "terrorists," I am afraid
of the ruthless people deciding the fate of the world
and for people like you and me and innocent
civilians the world over.
These attacks will increase while the
global elite are in power and the fact is,
"they" don't care about us.
"They" will not be touched by the blowback
of their hubris. We will.

28. They will be touched, eventually.
If things don't change, and this course is pursued they will be touched when the citizenry storms their palaces and, like Cecescue, they wind up in front of volunteer firing squads.

But it's got to get a lot worse before that happens.

17. If you allow yourself the luxury
of acting out of fear then they will have won. It is ok to feel fearful. It is not ok to act fearful, IMHO. The odds are on your side. So get up tomorrow and next week and next month and take the same underground train to the same landmark building. I promise you are not a target. Choose to live your life rather than react to someone else demands and expectations.

And, yes, I speak as someone who worked in a large landmark building on main street in one of our largest cities - and used public transporation to travel to and fro. At least that was true until my employer laid-off 30% of the workforce.

19. Not in the same way you are
What is freaking me out is how this attack is being spun -- as a major boost to George W(how the heck do they figure that out? sounds like wishful thinking), and making the UK/USA alliance more determined than ever (to do crazy shit). Same way as linkage was made between the attacks of Sept 11, and terrorism in Israel.

We're being fed a message to take home from this event, rather than just being given the facts on the ground -- that's what's "freaking" me out.

Will London respond the way the US did -- by attacking some country, even though it is only marginally involved, and if so, which country -- Syria? Iran? Some other objective of the NeoCons?

As to my daily life, I have to say, fuck fear.

I work in a bld. that has huge flower pot security flowers lining the sidewalks, cops out front, and cops seen out my window checking traffic on the FDR.

Not one person has mentioned London today in my office.

I didn't even think about it until I read this. I guess it is odd...I go through several metal detectors every day, am surrounded by forty different kinds of cops, and some of the transit police were evidently carrying automatic rifles today...and nothing, not a peep from anyone.

I myself, last time there was a "restricted airspace" scare (and I happened to be outdoors), just looked up at the F-16s and wondered how the pilots felt after the tight turns I saw them making...then I went and ate my lunch. Jaded and desensitized...

35. I just meant that there are THOUSANDS of targets...
Being afraid is no way to live. Chances are you'll be fine.

It's like when people ask be if it's safe to fly. I tell them that 9/11 was a safe day to fly. We had 4,500 planes in the air and we lost 4. That's more than we usually lose, but it's less than a tenth of 1%. 99.9+% are some pretty good odds.

It's easy to get freaked out about this stuff if you get sucked into the hype. Remember, the chances of anything happening to any individual person are really remote.

40. I'm pretty freaked
My freak-out of the day is Hurricane Dennis. My house was wiped out awhile back by a mere tropical storm. I don't know if I have ever fully recovered my nerve although my property was re-built some time ago. I meet people who still have stress from memories of Camille. Can't imagine what it would be like to be a victim of a disaster created by evil people on purpose.

Be strong. I'll be strong too. What choice have we got, right?
