342 arrested by G8 police

A total of 342 G8-related arrests have been made across Scotland since Saturday, police have revealed.

Tayside Police said 165 of those were made in the 24 hour period since Wednesday's outbreak of violence in Stirling involving anarchist protesters.

Officers said 91 of those were made in South Perthshire with 70 of those appearing before Perth Sheriff Court.

Another 40 people were appearing at Stirling Sheriff Court in connection with incidents around the city on Wednesday morning.
