It's Times Like These That I Wish We Had a Real President >>>

U.S. President George W. Bush speaks about the bombings in London while standing in front of the Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland July 7, 2005. Bush said 'I spent some time recently with the Prime Minister, Tony Blair, and had an opportunity to express our heartfelt condolences to the people of London, people who lost lives. I appreciate Prime Minister Blair's steadfast determination and his strength. (Kevin Lamarque/Reuters)

1. I knew he would sound stupid.
"People who lost lives"? He means people who lost loved ones. Those who lost their lives are not able to appreciate his "heartfelt condolences."

The man gets more stupid every day.

(I'm shaking head from side to side.)

4. "I spent some time recently ... and had the opportunity to express"
How about that line? As if he were about to discuss something trivial and mundane. I think he pulls these out of his brain by rote, whether it's appropriate to the situation or not.

It's time for the WTF icon.

:wtf:

3. His words have no meaning to him.
Empty meaningless platitudes he spews to make himself feel superior, and convince others that he really gives a crap about human suffering and sacrifice, both of which he knows nothing of.

6. Clinton made it look so easy, the US thought any old monkey could do it.
And it turns out, there's a need for a minimally intelligent, decent, hardworking, non-dickhead person to hold the office, OR PEOPLE DIE.

8. "Their resolve is as strong as MY resolve," he said,
referring to the other G8 leaders. My God, what a dick! He magninimously pays other world leaders the highest compliment he can think of: "Them folks is as tough as ME!" He sounded as if he was surprised that anybody else could have as much resolve as he does. It's all about him. "Lookit me, I'M a real hardass, and everybody else is a pussy."

And I think if he refers to other people as "folks" once more I'm gonna :puke: all over my keyboard.

9. Well, he's at least referring to them as "people" now.
This morning they were just "folks".

11. It's sad to compare Bush's speaking to Blair's.
Blair sounds like he's reading from a book or a policy paper, even when he's speaking spontaneously. Bush sounds like someone with a mental deficiency, even when he's reading from a script.
