Does anyone recall the general national atmosphere between....
...June 1, 2001 and the very early morning of September 11, 2001? Our government was asleep then just as it is now. We were wondering if Bush was ever going to begin leading this nation. His popularity had plummeted in the polls. It feels like deja vous all over again!

I think I'm going to pray.

4. I do recall news stories about "terror threats" before 9/11
A competent president would have prevented it.

6. I have been thinking about this quite a bit lately
I have concluded that the bush crime syndicate is afraid and can't get away with it a second time. another attack on US soil would absolutely seen as a colossal failure

17. i think that since they've botched so many military efforts
an attack on a military installation would also be bad publicity too. maybe an embassy? but that still won't be as effective because many americans won't get sufficiently frightened or outraged

7. Some say he's actually been discarded by the Powers That Be,
the corporations, because the Oil was their objective and they have that.

How secure is the Oil now, with the British gaurding it for us? What are their bases like? It's only 2 years since the Invasion, not enough time to have built those big hardened bases to protect the Oil.

13. Were the sharks attacking during June, July and August 2001?
...Funny I don't recall that at all and I was at the beach several times a week (Atlantic coast of Florida). No sharks that I remember at all.

16. There are BIG differences between now and then
The biggest difference?

We're older and wiser by four years.

By that, I mean back in 2001, as a nation, we were more divided than we are now. Some of us were angry, at worst, but more commonly, dismayed, at what appeared to many to be an unjust anomaly in the election process. Others were bouyed by what appeared to be 'vicory at last'. But no matter your view, idiot son was also being somnambulant, appearing to barely be going thorough the motions. In general, there was a decided feeling of disappointment in the air, but that was about it. That and poll numbers below 50% for the dauphin.

Now, while the overall mood may seem on the surface to be similar, we all know there's a huge unsettled undercurrent in the country's mood today. Idiot son is largely seen as a liar and a war monger by almost everyone, to say nothing of being an ineffectual leader. The only real difference between 'us' and 'them' is in the amount which we're willing to overlook or forgive. Truly, no one disputes the facts .... well, to be sure, there are some who do .... but not in any real numbers that matter.

On balance, I think there are far more differences between now and then than there are similarities.

18. bushie should be warned: It won't work
this time. Last time he gathered the support because he was seen as a new president who took "control" when our nation was down. Today he is no longer new - today he has assured us we are safer because of his great national security policies! Any attack on our country now would be a blatant example of the failure of his policies and further damage his standing no matter how many books he reads to the kiddies.
