No matter what you think about Senator Clinton or Senator Boxer or any other female candidate, if they run for president, the dingbat media will all call them Hillary and Barbara, etc. But they will honor the repub candidates with "Senator McCain, Senator Frist, etc., instead of John or Bill.
I think we as Dems should start giving the respectful titles to our candidates as well and reprimand the media when they don't.

1. I second that notion!
Women in all walks of professional life have been diminished by the usage of their first names while their male counterparts continue to be referred to by their surnames. I see this in newspapers all the time.

2. You are right. So from now on I will try and address
all our female candidates with their titles.

4. That's something that bugs the crap out of me...
across the board.... just one more way to keep women "beneath" men.

5. Thank you
I also think that all female professionals should be addressed by their title whenever possible and female military personnel should be addressed by their rank (if known).

6. When it comes to politicians, I tend to refer to them by surname...
whether male OR female. "Senator X" or "Representative Y" gets to be a bit much to say or type repeatedly, so sticking to surnames is easier. I'll just call them Boxer, Clinton, McCain, und so weiter.

8. I take your point, but just as a forinstance...
I have never heard a tv commentator call Bill Frist, "Frist". Always Senator Frist or Dr. Frist. But every day on the news it is "Hillary". When people hear this they associate a professional status to this guy (who in truth is about as unprofessional as they come). "Hillary" denegrates her status...you may as well ask them to consider voting for "Cher" or "Madonna".

Up that respect level, and hold them to a single standard.
