In striving to portray the on-going prospect of the U.S. occupation of Iraq, George makes this comparison to argue the legitimacy of expecting a prolonged and contested U.S. military occupation of Iraq.

Chechnya? Despite the degree to which one regards Chechnya as an independent nation or a semi-autonomous part of the Russian Federation, is this not an abysmal admission of a global American hegemony? Does George really want to discuss the degree to which Iraq is legitimately seeking independence from the U.S.?

His invoking Chechnya is typical of him when a more appropriate comparison would have been to Vietnam.But in Chechnya the Russians used power and prevailed.In Vietnam all our power did not result in our victory.So, this coward, who found shelter in a divinity school during Vietnam,of all the places, now pontificates about the conduct of war without a trace of shame or irony.Obviously, he missed the classes on the day they taught a few things about adultery at the divinity school.
