September 7th 2004: The Day We Took The 1,000th American Fatality

I was looking back through some of my image galleries and found this graphic I made on that day.

Just short of 3 years after much of the world pulled behind The United States. That sadly, all to brief time where much of the division in American really had gone away and we really WERE The United States.

On that day that we took our 1,000th American fatality, I was heartbroken as I am pretty much every day. It broke my heart yet again when I came across it. So, I decided to post it again.

Partially, because it reminded me of THAT tragic milestone. But more so because in "staying the course" we have now lost 735 more American lives and killed numbers of Iraq so large that no one knows for sure how many lie in their graves.

So, here it less than a week before the release of yet more evidence of the cruelty and abuse we have inflicted on the people of Iraq and we are edging up on another of these "milestones". I do not know how many more will die for this repugnant Neocon/Oil disaster. But, we will be at 2,000 sooner than we can believe.

What will America do that day? Will it take 10,000 or 55,000 before the public hits the streets, correspondence and every other effort they can make to end it?
