Kerry: citizens shouldn't vote on machines owned by partisan activists
Edited on Fri Jun-24-05 02:25 PM by LittleClarkie
Wandered over to Kerry main page after signing petition, only to find the entire front page is devoted to "Count Every Vote"

http://www.johnkerry.com/index.html

Mostly the election reform bill and the DNC report are highlighted, but I found something else that was new.

Community Action Teams

http://www.johnkerry.com/features/count/actionteam.php

with this text:

"We must put party politics aside and join together as proud American citizens to eliminate barriers to voting, encourage the greatest level of civic participation possible, and restore confidence in the notion that every eligible voter will have the opportunity to cast a ballot and have it counted. No American citizen should wake up the morning after the election and worry their vote wasn't counted. No citizen should be denied at the polls if they are eligible to vote. And, as the greatest, wealthiest nation on earth, our citizens should never be forced to vote on old, unaccountable and non transparent voting machines from companies controlled by partisan activists.

There are over 3,000,000 members of the johnkerry.com online community. We accomplished so much together during the campaign. Now let's use our power to make sure that at least one good thing comes from the voting rights problems of the 2004 election."

Please note bolded text:

I like it.

G'head. I know it's coming. I feel like the cow in Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, waiting and wanting to be eaten. Come and get your dinner then.

1. That's the message all Dem lawmakers have to trumpet.
Partisan activists have NO BUSINESS controlling the voting machines.

Expose the GOP's control of the voting machines.

4. Indeed
and for all the flak that Kerry gets on the subject, it would be nice if people saw that he's still on the case.

2. I'm all for banning those machines.
Now... when are we actually going to do it? How much more evidence do we need to gather? Unless the voting laws change - and I mean right now - we might as well kiss any chance we have of gaining seats in the House and Senate in '06 goodbye.

3. Until we fix the voting...
the voting is fixed.

Is there an echo in here?

6. It was suggested that my headline needed more zip.
Is that better?

8. No, let them vote on NEW, unaccountable and non-transparent
voting machines from companies controlled by partisan activists.

Sheesh.

More words, words, words from Mr. Kerry. Ptooey. I've given up hoping for any action from him.

10. There have been actions
but you have your mind closed to them, and so will never see.

Some of us can see that both Dean and Kerry are doing good things. Some see only half that picture. Which is a shame.

11. The emphasis is that they are OWNED by partisan activists. Most people
Edited on Fri Jun-24-05 02:59 PM by blm
don't know this fact, and probably assume the machines are owned and controlled by them.
