Rove's spew was a deliberate distraction attack
How to respond to Rove? Call him out for being the lying manipulative bastard that he is, and don't let him shift the focus.

White House intentionally had Rove call Democrats and 57% of Americans traitors
by John in DC - 6/23/2005 07:54:00 PM

It's pretty clear now that this was a set up orchestrated by the White House in order to deflect attention away from the disaster that is the war in Iraq, and Bush's plumetting polls.

1. The White House released the TEXT of Rove's speech today. According to my sources who know about such things, that NEVER happens. This is prima facie evidence that the White House coordinated this thing from the beginning.

2. The RNC put out talking points today about how the Democrats "blamed America" for September 11. Those detailed talking points were clearly prepared well in advance of this noon today when this thing blew up. WE BLAMED AMERICA?

3. The RNC today reportedly released a new attack web ad going after Durbin for his comments about Guantanamo Bay. Isn't that convenient that something that took at least a few days to prepare was suddenly ready today at the same time that Karl Rove made his comments that anyone who recognizes that Bush has no idea what's going on Iraq is a traitor who loves Osama.

5. It proves we are on the right track
We were marching strongly together towards impeachment... and the White House has just blinked... throwing Red Meat Rove out the back door, hoping to distract us off our mission.

Failing unneccessary war in Iraq
And Afghanistan ain't doing so hot either
Overwhelming DSM Evidence
Bush-sponsored torture chambers
Largest Deficit EVER !
Rampant Corporate Fraud
Right wing Intolerance & Racism
Faux Fundamentalist Sanctimony
Abuse of Power

To paraphrase...

6. New Meme: Democrats Lost Iraq
Rove's jumped ahead of the curve. They know there's no way they can turn Bunnypant's popularity or the invasion's numbers around...and who cares? * doesn't have to run for re-election and Rove can now retire to a multi-million dollar punditry gig...there's a deeper motive at work here.

This is to maintain as much cover for as long...from both Democrats and Repugnicans, while the BFEE and it's supporters fleece as much as they can from this "war" and the treasury. It's Rove diverting Repugnicans as much as Democrats.

They know the war's not going well, it's not popular, but there's too much money being made...too much profiteering going on and this diversion gives cover as corporate media attention is moved away from who started this invasion (DSM), whose profiting and our conduct...and sets up the real end game of this sad episode..."Who Lost Iraq".

Eventually the country will "cut and run" from Iraq. Either we'll be driven out by an ever-growing insurrection or our military will collapse from the strain of a dead-end drain on morale and resources. When that happens, the Repugnicans are trying to pave the way to say it was Democrats who opposed this invasion that were the ones to blame. Rove's tying of Iraq = 9/11 to Democrats being weak plays all the cards and uses all the buzzwords.

Now, let's see if this tactic works and if the Democrats will come up with 25 different resposes...then use each one to trash us with.
