Who feels good?
I'm thinking 2006.

I'm thinking this:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/Iraq/Story/0,2763,1089158,00....

And this:

http://www.lightupthedarkness.org/blog/default.asp?view...

The wheel does roll...so long as good people lay their shoulders to the wheel.

It'll be another two years before we see any benefit from our work today.

Patience. Strength.

Stand and be true.

I feel good.

Very, very good... :hi:

NGU. You can win your fight if you NGU.

I believe that if we all stand together, NGU and NSU (never SHUT up!), we CAN and WILL eventually get voter-verified paper ballots and fair elections. We can make it better, folks. We have to.

So yes I feel good.

No self-delete this time.

2. The Rethugs are in trouble
They have just pulled out:
Anti-Flag Burning Amendment
* raised the Anti-Gay Marriage Amendment at the Southern Baptist Con
They are playing the 'Liberals have cuased us to tank in Iraq' card and they may get to play the abortion card again when the SCOTUS vacancy comes up.

They must be scared of something to be bringing up all the big guns up at once.

is this because I was tired when I read it at 6am? Or is this plan to take SSI 'surplus' and put it into treasury bonds...well, I thought that was where it was going anyway???? but they will attach individuals names to the bonds or something??WTF?

34. Ignore it DebJ. It's another Bogus Attempt per Pelosi.
Another cheap shoddy trick to place Bush's SSI reform (destroy) ideals.
It's just a big smoke-screen. They're cornered like rats, in my opinion.

Again, ignore it. Our Dem's know it's BS.

Everyone check out that link! Ian Rhett's song is terrific, the video is great!... just a really hopeful shot in the arm for anyone out there needing one...

25. Well, my concern is they'll pull the same shit they did last time
with polling old registered voters (not the newly registered) - smoke and mirrors to make it look closer than it actually was. Vote padding I'm sure happened in every state with e-voting.

40. I'm not sure that Diebold depends on close margins.
Edited on Thu Jun-23-05 10:03 PM by IndyOp
I suspected there would be election fraud in the 2004 Presidential race, but I was confident that we had built up so much steam that we could overwhelm their fraud. The day after the election I begain to believe that I had been naive to think that they could only steal the election if there were close margins.

I believe - after reading a ton of material on DU, from many different posters writing about many different states - that the Rethugs stole 100,000's of votes in multiple-states. Steve Freeman's paper alone indicates that the results in at least 3 states were not possible. And his three states don't include New Mexico or Washington.

Remember the man who called in to talk with Malloy on election night - who sounded so sad - he said that Kerry would have to win with 75%+ of the vote to overcome the fraud that was underway.

The greater the turnout and the more Dem voters the harder the fraud will be to hide, but it could still occur. It is just as easy to switch 800,000 votes from one column to another in a central tabulator as it is to switch 8.

On edit - addition: Actually, I think that we *must* get passed the belief that we need only worry about the possibility of fraud when the election is close. That is *exactly* what the Rethugs want us to believe - so that when Chambliss 'beat' Cleland by 8% - no one uttered a mumbling word. When Coleman 'beat' Mondale by a healthy gap, Dems shrugged, thanked Walter and walked away. When * was reported to have won by millions of votes - the nation yawned. If Clinton Curtis can design software to make sure that the chosen candidate stays steady at 51% - it is a cinch to design software to make sure that the chosen candidate stays steady at 61% or 68% or...

I'm not hopeless - just very, very serious about our needing to push for voter verified paper ballots across the country and automatic recount audits.

13. I do feel good
I had my downer moments, but kept going. I used the power of email and talked to people whenever the opportunity came up.

The last week has been good because I do believe we are now seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. The fabulous protesters, bloggers, and everyone else that I can't think of right now have really persevered.

It's not over by a long shot and there's a lot of work to be done. I know that. I'm located in a pro-bush part of TN and even here the support seems to be falling away. I was all over town today and there was not one single bush supporting sticker to be seen.

I am seriously thinking about going to the September protest in D.C. if finances allow.

DU has been the inspiration to get the facts and get involved. I love this place :patriot:

32. Usually I feel pretty good. Not so much today.
I live in Georgia, and sometimes the scale of the task at hand is overwhelming, but today I think it was the contrast between the Durbin comment/apology and the Rove comment/non-apology that just made me realize how much work we have to do.

Their guys are allowed to make a mistake (a LOT of mistakes!) because they do such a good job of selling the ideology. A mistake here and there isn't going to dissuade anybody. We, on the other hand, don't sell our ideology so we end up relying on our candidates/leaders to define us, which means any mistake they make is magnified. Anybody who considers themselves "centrist", 'objective", "middle of the road", has nothing to hang their hat on with us, and a mistake -yes a mistake- like Durbins' costs us.

But in 10 years, I'll either still be working to bring the message to the people, or living in France rooting from the sidelines.

Our grassroots is beaten and battered, withered and weak. We must rebuild it.

Our country has been taken over by evil murderous thieves. They are stealing every last dollar of our treasury. They initated a war for profit and are killing hundreds of thousands of innocent people.

They are stomping on our Constitution and taking away our basic rights and liberties. They are allowing corporations to dump their toxic wastes into our water supply and air. They are chopping down our beautiful and sacred forests.

They are saying the 'earth is flat' and every media outlet is publishing that 'fact'. Our media outlets are dumping lies and propaganda till it makes sane and smart people cry in pain.

No, bud, I fell like shit because we are in the fight of and for our lives. We get bombarded every single fucking day by these bastards on every front you can think of. We have 'heart of America' Americans thinking these bastards are 'godly' and we have to fight them too.

Everything we do to fight for our democracy and our lives, we get assailed by every single conservative in America and our government.

They are driving me, a patriotic American, out of my country of birth, because they are destroying it. And destroying the world...

No, I actually fear for my life and yours (collectively).

economy is about to do. And when it happens, I anticipate a great backlash against Republicans. I hope like hell that more information on 911 reaches the American Public. And when that happens, it will be similar to The University of Alabama receiving the "death penalty" from the NCAA.......life will never be the same. The Republican party may even cease to exist. I feel we are in a grave and dangerous time, like no other time, in the history of the United States. I think we are facing a historic Constitutional Crisis. Feel good?.....not this gal! The chimpster is already a lame duck--political capital all but gone! What's he gonna do for the next three and a half years? Better go back to Crawford and clear some more brush.

Any repubs in Congress too close to chimp will have the same smell.
