"Pootie Poot" has slaughtered more than Saddam, so why the MSM silence?
Edited on Wed Jun-22-05 04:26 PM by UdoKier
Bush's bosom buddy Vlad "Pootie Poot" Putin has killed more "OF HIS OWN PEOPLE" in Chechnya than Saddam could've dreamed of over the last few years.

Grozny has suffered the worst bombings of a European city since WWII.

So why has the US corporate media said nothing about it?

And why hasn't Dear Leader gone over to liberate the Chechnyans, or all Russians, from Putin's iron grip?

And why am I even bothering to ask this question?

1. Pootie Poot has lots of real WMD and a huge army, navy and air force?

5. That's probably a lot of it
I mean, if Saddam really had the WMD, it would take a really sick, arrogant asshole to send in troops to be slaughtered.

But then again, Bush happens to be a really sick, arrogant asshole.

However, Bush knew all along that he wouldn't be putting troops at risk to WMD attacks in Iraq. That's why he invaded.

3. Don't forget, they were silent about it when Saddam did it too.
It isn't about people, it's about making a case.

4. Where are the DU posts saying Putin = Hitler?
The sad fact of the matter, I'm sorry to say, is that most people just don't get worked up about this kind of thing unless it's their own ox being gored in some fashion or other.

6. Great point
I mean, we have to do what's necessary to defend America, right?

So what's the difference?

7. Bush doesn't really like Putin.
As I understand it, Putin is a backlash against the previous government which destroyed the country by following the Washington Consensus market liberalization/privatize everything strategy which put a great deal of wealth into the hands of a select few.

Putin is doing some decent things to undo the damage done to the market (for example, insisting on collecting taxes, appropriating companies that don't, and reselling them at REAL market prices). I know some people probably believe that the second sales aren't fair, but they are much more fair than the previous sales.

(Incidentally, one of the crazy things about the first sales were that they were so obviously corrupt that people (including western investors) must have known they wouldn't last forever -- they were undermining the stability of the economy by fascilitating so much greed and injustice. The economy would have be so much better with an honest, paced conversion to market capitalism that placed a premium on protecting workers and encouraging competition.)

So, Bush and Putin are not friends because Putin is bucking the Washington Consensus.

But that doesn't mean Grozny isn't bad. The reason that's gettig a pass is because it's seen as part of the war on terrorism.

8. Russia, Uzbekistan, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Algeria,
Tons of brutal US allies that make Saddam blush.

Do they get criticism?

No, they are "allies."
