1. agreed. I'm reminded of the lesson from zen:

where the teacher says, "kneel before me"
so the student kneels.
The teacher grabs a stick, and says
"If you speak to me, I will hit you. If you don't speak to me, I will hit you. How can you avoid being struck?"
The student thinks, and then he stands up and takes the stick.

2. and the lesson of standing up to the bully from our childhood

you cry to mom about the bully and she gives you the lesson and you either learn it or you don't. stand up to bullies, punch em' right in the nose and they'll respect you and stop bothering you and both of you will learn something.

3. Sadly...

When you are in a fight like we are, you sometimes have to stand up and say the things that need to be said. Will the other side get pissed yes... Who cares?

Here is an example, My Sen, Rober Byrd was giving a speech, he spoke about a historian who wrote about the Nazis, the historian spoke about how Hitler followed the letter of the law in all his doing, that he used propaganda to make the illegal, legal.

Later that day, the Right went Nuts "Byrd called us Nazis!!!" it was a big stink... You know what in the end, the Right is the one that drew that connection, not Byrd. And while the news was all over it, the one message that was being delivered was "Republicans are acting like nazis" and many many people heard that, and said, you know he's right.

So all I am saying is, we need a dem with balls to stand up and call the pres a liar, call a press conference and say it, "Mr Bush, you have lied to the American people, you have Lied to the world. Mr Bush, the blood of 1725 Americans is on your hands, and if you have one shred of decency left, you will resign"

But, we are all pussies.

You know one thing I have learned from Randi is this, if someone tells you he is a liar, believe him.
