Let the Repubs rant and rave. That is what they do. They specialize in character assassination. Just ask John McCain..if he's honest, he will tell you so.

I'm sure Senator Durbin thought he could put this behind him and move on but this will only embolden those with other ideas. This is so painful because Senator Durbin was one of the bright lights of the Democratic Party and he may have blown it with this uncalled for "apology". Will he ever be able to speak up again without being ridiculed or seen as a weakling? That's a legitimate question, in my opinion.

This is politics! This ain't beanbag! If you can't stand the heat, get out of the damn kitchen! Our country is in dire straits. It is no time for folding up to these fascists. Yes, it takes patience and courage. We shall see where this "apology" gets us. I will be surprised if anything good will come from it.

He did NOT apologize to everybody and recant his statements, he simply apologized for offending holocaust survivors and the impact it had and did not retract any of his comments which are on the record.

So to any "democratic leaders" out there... say whatever you want (certainly the current administration does), don't worry if it is true or not... but NEVER EVER back down from the statement.

Dems in general take all accusations to heart. Lots of dems put themselves immediately on the defensive when a Republican levies a charge against them. It gives their argument automatic credence.
