121. Yes
There will be no official impeachment inquiry, this meeting is a 'forum', not a 'hearing', they have no subpoena power, and it is possible (hell, probable) that it will be ignored completely by the Republicans who hold the majority.

But small steps will get you there eventually. Re-taking the house in 2006 is the key. The information from this forum will be a start so that the Democratic House can begin impeachment actions IMMEDIATELY in Jan 2007 when they take office.

This is just getting some of the footwork done so no time is wasted so that the bastard can be impeached for his high crimes and treason, along with his entire cabinet.

154. he said on Franken today that he'll deliver them afterwards, and said
he has a number of young men helping out and also some not so young, after Al commented it would be heavy work, with all the signatures.

Conyers delivering the signatures reminds me of when Max Cleland wheeled up to the entrance of bush's Crawford ranch to deliver a letter asking bush to condemn Swift Boat Vets ads bashing Kerry.
I wonder how much drama there will be today when Conyers makes his delivery.

Political drama unfolds as letter carriers fail to deliver
http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/08/25/cleland.swiftboat/

...

Upon his arrival at the ranch, Cleland -- who lost both legs and an arm during the Vietnam War -- was met by Texas Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson, himself a Vietnam veteran.

Patterson said Bush had asked him to accept the letter from Cleland. But the Georgia Democrat refused to hand it over. Instead, he said he wanted to deliver the letter personally to Bush or, barring that, to a member of the Secret Service. When he succeeded at neither, Cleland took the message to the news media.

"These scurrilous attacks on John Kerry's credibility in war, courage and valor are false and George Bush is behind it," he said. "That's why I tried to deliver a letter to the president's home and hand it either to him or one of his aides."

...

"The question is: Where is George Bush's honor? The question is: Where is his shame to attack a fellow veteran who has distinguished himself in combat?" Cleland asked. If the president of the U.S. does not stick up for veterans who distinguish themselves in war," he asked, "who will he stick up for?"

Just wondering if News 24 has plans to cover the U.S. Congressional hearings on the Downing Street Memo, which is live now on CSPAN3 at cspan.org. From a blog I'm told that every major U.S. TV network is covering the hearings, but audience members can't tell if BBC News has a crew there. Will BBC cover this event as well?

From Will Pitt's blog:

McGovern: "“We’re not talking about Georgetown parlor games here. These are consequential, death-dealing lies.” Mocking Bush for pretending to look for WMD at the Correspondent’s Dinner. Sheehan’s son was killed 11 days “after that big joke.”

I remember seeing that "big joke" on the news and getting so angry I wanted to smash the t.v. Just thinking about it makes me sick to my stomach. I know you all know this already but sometimes I am just terribly reminded what a fucking arrogant, smug, unfeeling piece of shit he is. The deepest pits of hell (if there is one) are too good for him. I cannot even conceive of a just punishment for the loathesome toad.
