1. "1968 was NOT the last year for a lynching to take place in US."
Lets not forget Matthew Shepard either. It may not have been a racial lynching, but it was still a horrible lynching.

2. Neither was 1998
Check out these links about Leonard Gakinya, a young man of twenty seven who lived with his mother in Springfield Mo. His body was found, hanging from a radio tower in Springfield Mo. The death was ruled a suicide, though the circumstance surrounding it are quite suspicious. No note, no explanation, and according to friends the motivation could very well be his friendship with a white woman.

Lynching is alive and well in the US, sad to say. And while much progress has been made in racial relations over the past fifty years, it is incidents like this that show just how much further we have to go.

3. It's neither alive nor well.

Lynching is not at all alive in the U.S. It betrays your lack of knowledge of lynching to say it is.

Lynching includes a mob, public hanging and no legal recouse. That's been over for a long time, IMO.

7. I guess you either haven't been paying attention,
Or you simply wish to remain willfuly ignorant. Here is a definition of lynching for you:
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lynching>

If you would do some research you would find that all three cases mentioned above DID involve some form of strangulation with a rope. James Byrd was dragged by his neck, Leornard Gakinya was hung, and Matthew Shepard was tied up.

And while yes, a mob is usually present for a lynching, especially in the bad old days, it isn't a requirement. A single person can, and has, lynch a person. Besides, both Mr. Byrd's and Mr Shepard's deaths were attended by more than one person. We don't know how many attended Mr. Gakinya's death, as that case hasn't been solved, and given the bigotted nature of the Springfield Police Dept., it probably never will be.

I don't know why you're in such denial about these hard truths, but that you are speaks volumes about you, none of it good.
