1. There was something to this effect on the Washington Post today.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/20...

After struggling during his failed presidential bid last year to stake out a clear and compelling position on the nation's most pressing issue -- Iraq -- Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.) has come out swinging. A senior aide close to Kerry said this week that a Kerry is circulating a letter about the memo among Democratic senators before sending it to Bush. The aide predicted that Kerry would make the letter public in the next few days.

22. Obama, Durbin & Kerry
1. I'm very proud of Kerry and hope EVERYONE signs that letter. He's doing wonderful things and I'm looking forward to him being sworn in.

2. Obama and Durbin are becoming very interesting Senators. Durbin looks incompetent and who's side is Obama on?

Interesting stuff.

and push the story forward.

15. No, he never said he was going to the Senate floor on Monday.
He said he would work on the DSM issue after he came back to DC on that Monday.

Here's a video clip where Keith Olbermann goes through exactly what Kerry said and how it was twisted to mean something entirely different. Raw Story did NOT say he would make a speech on that Monday - they check their facts, and the words that Kerry said were on record and could be confirmed easily as Keith Olbermann did.

The video is well worth watching - very pleasing to see him mow down the GOP spin. It's linked to in the opening post of this thread:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=132&topic_id=1834390#

Raw Story is a great resource for progressives wanting to get at the truth, and they really do work on getting their facts checked. If you find an error, contact them about it. They are well aware that accuracy and reliability are vitally important in this atmosphere of general deceit.

27. Thank you, Lara! That is indeed a precious gift, and just what I wanted!
When you are working on your DSM-related timeline, please consider adding the Feb 2003 meetings of the five top Bush admin lawyers with Lord Goldsmith, the UK Attorney General (I know YOU know, but I'm including extra info for other readers). He went into them saying that the Iraq invasion would be illegal and after a barrage of these "gruelling" meetings, one after another, he started saying it was legal. It's an important part of the story, both for the effect on the official British view of the war's legality and for the identity of the five Administration officials who conducted the "gruelling" meetings. Naturally, Gonzales was one of them, and the other names are interesting too. The connections of these people point to widespread complicity in the fraud throughout the top levels of the Bush Administration. I don't know what the original documents were, but this was reported in a reputable paper, the Guardian (UK) on May 1, 2005 and so there must be information on how the information was vetted.

I posted on this back when it first came out, on May 1. I reposted a couple of nights ago here;
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x3847225

Please check it out. I think it's an important piece.

RE RAW STORY FANS:

See, you've got 3 or 4 right here! ;) And just think of the thousands upon thousands of people - I would not be suprised to hear that their number approaches a million - who eagerly read Raw Story every day. Since they are apparently not fans :(, they must all be masochists! :scared:
Or perhaps nasty Bush admin agents? :scared: :scared:
Or even stupid neocon cable TV creatures looking for copy to crib? :scared: :scared: :scared:

30. Important Note
I did not clarify that the DSM, original May 1st version was actually after this latest batch... I updated article, to include the link to Daily Tel. article of late 2004.

And yes, we have the Goldsmith / Gonzo / Ashcroft memo to look through.

11. As I read this, the regional news station was discussing
the DSM story. NECN, which broadcasts throughout most of NE, covered the story, mentioning the large groundswell coming from the Internet and activists. They mentioned that both Kerry and Kennedy commented on the memo, with Kerry promising to bring it up in session and Kennedy blasting the B*sh administration on it. The story that won't go away is being heard on MSM!!!
