Did you guys see how stoopid Matt Lauer looked on TDS
when the audience booed Bush?

Are you saying "boo", or "boo-urns"?

6. OK, call me crazy
(and old...) but I remember when Bryant Gumball was on The Today Show and the show wasn't so bland and insipid. Bryant actually had an edge (which many people hated) and didn't filter everything he said through the company brass.

2. Said the same thing to my wife - who stayed up cause she likes Matt.
I think he may have brought up bush for laughs, but didn't use the right format - don't tell us bush is one of the greatest Americans ever.

4. Yeah, saw that, but I'm not sure it was authentic
I'm not sure Lauer's response wasn't intended comically, but the segment ended before he could "finish" the joke.

Although, the more I think about it, the more I think it may have been genuine shock. He lives in the same sort of bubble that Bush does, surrounded by fawning Today show fans rather than any real mix of Americans.

He was such a pitiful specimen overall, though, constantly reiterating his shock at how certain individuals could end up on his dumb-ass "America's 100 Greatest People" list -- when it's based on an Internet poll. Is he really that effing stoopid, or was it a ham-handed attempt to get people interested in watching the show?

7. I read it as shock and then it appeared to me as if he was glaring.
Or maybe he was thinking "Shit, I screwed up, my job is to get people to love the village idiot"

8. BTW... I used to have a kind of a crush on Lauer, from the first time
he appeared on the local NY NBC morning news show until I saw him become an attack dog (and not all that effective one) for this sociopathic administration.

9. I thought stupid was a natural look for Mutt.
This a.m. he was interviewing a young shark bite victim (ahem) and his "style" was so over the top (amped up,almost breathless , how cool was it to be bitten by a shark) that the kid seemed taken aback.

Maybe having his "hipness" factor elevated last night on the TDS would explain his excitement. :sarcasm:

10. Actually, when I saw it
I think it was just shock. Hes probably not used to being in front of a completely left-wing audience.

11. He tried to slag Edwards, and he sucked up to Junior
He was SO caught. Other than the barb at Edwards, he'd been trying to be reasonable chap so he could build up capital to expend glorifying the Idiot Prince.

Desperation is sad.

14. diss edwards?
he was being completely honest, what kind of moron would put someone like John Edwards on a list of greatest Americans. He was a one term senator and had a failed VP bid. No matter what you value about America, Edwards wouldn't be the greatest in any regard. Bush on the other hand is understandable. If you're a facist, not many have done more for you're country than Bush.

15. I Agree
The list is almost entirely bullshit. There are some truly great Americans, such as FDR, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, etc on the top 25. I think that's great. MLK, Neil Armstrong, Edison, I get all those too.

I don't think Oprah or Billy Graham or Elvis or Dubya could be considered one of the top 25 Greatest Americans ever.

Not even Bill Clinton could, in my opinion -- I think he's great, but one of the top 25 Americans EVER?
