What is the Problem with Drummond Oil Co.?
Edited on Mon Sep-22-03 10:28 AM by LincolnMcGrath
What is the Problem with Drummond Coal Company?

Alabama-based Drummond Coal Company closed down much of its U.S.
production
and moved to Colombia, a country notorious for repression against
unions.

In March 2001, during a dispute between the company and the union at
the
Drummond coal mine in Colombia, the president and vice president of the
union were riding home on the company bus. Paramilitary gunmen stopped
the
bus, forced the two union leaders off, and killed them in front of
their
co-workers. Seven months later, in October, gunmen pulled the new union
president off the bus and murdered him.

2. as a self-avowed "corporate citizen", why isn't the Drummond family
being held for, at least, questioning -- who ordered the murders?

3. Coca Cola, Too.
Just finished this article posted on democrats.com when I caught your thread.

This is the article

Google search turned up more info and a call for world wide boycott of Coca Cola. Certainly considering a personal boycott at this point.

5. This is what the U.S. means by 'free trade.'
The 'collapse' of the Cancun talks was not just about the economic devastation perpetrated by current globalization, it was also about the devastation of worker rights, basic human rights, as well as devastation of the environment.
