Ah! it's nearly summer and the smell of impeachment is in the air!
Suddenly the papers seem "liberated" to discuss the wrong doings in the bogus lead-up to Iraq. Iraq is a problem that chimp can't shake off and grows more horrible each day, it can't be ignored. So, as the DSM scandal grows, so do the problems in Iraq. Soon they will have to face the fact that a draft is needed, thus adding to chimps problems. It couldn't happen to a nicer guy.

3. Yeah
But he'd blame the godless liberal media for causing trouble in Iraq since all liberals support Islamic communistic terrorists who want gay marriage and good paying jobs. He'll spin it till conservatives can't tell reality from fantasy....er wait....

The press does seem "re-animated" to a degree, although it's the regional press, like the Toledo Blade tearing the Ohio Republicans a new one on campaign finance fraud (implicating election thief, Blackwell who is running for governor). It has quite an impact. Taft, the Gov., is below 20%(twenty percent) in approval rating when the public sees the truth about their shoddy little operation.

If the CM (corporate media), e.g., the WaPost and NYT, get off their dilettante ergonomically housed asses and onto the streets, we may get something. This doesn't require great reporting skill, just a recitation of the facts commensurate with their significance.

Keep in mind that the best the WaPost has to offer is Dana Milbank (who?) and he believes that the DSN is an old story. What an idiot.

They need ghost writers but as things are moving in the direction of a tub thumping for *, they'll get them soon.

Excellent post!

6. Thank you, there has been plenty of sober commentary
and the start of honest soul searching about the "time line" in the last couple of days. It might all evaporate except that the war keeps the run-up DSM questions alive.

12. Well, the good news is that the "word" is out and it's bad for Bush,

real bad. There was another thread tonight with the USA papers explanation of why they didn't cover the DSM. Mind you, they didn't cover the memo, they covered their non coverage. This should be categorized as an "un-thought crime." This will please you. The WaPost online has a kick-ass article. Sneakin' in the back door, which is why the new WaPost motto will become: "I'm you're back door man."

Great DSM Article-just in WaPost Online but a good start, especially the very last line

On edit: Hell, here's the last line from the WaPost Online: "Far from being a dud, the Downing Street Memo may generate more stories to come."

Part of this story is about Bolton getting a UN Chemical Inspections official fired to keep chemical inspectors OUT of Iraq. I think * has been set up in nominating Bolton. I'm not a "coincidence theorist" and here's Bolton as a key cause in the rationale for the Iraq War.

9. One more thing...
I love hanging out on this board. You people can make me happy, sad and angry but the most important thing is it's so much fun talking with everyone and hearing their views. We don't all agree on the same things, but we can at least respect each other's opinions.

10. Oh, I'd love to see it, too, but don't get too optimistic.
Can you imagine what sort of crazy authoritarian s*** Rove and Cheney would dream up if they thought they were in serious trouble?

11. s'cuse me . . . but what in the world makes you think that . . .
a thoroughly Republican Congress that BushCo totally controls would EVER even consider impeachment? . . . just curious . . .

13. it's going to come down to saving asses
no point in going down with the SS Bushtanic if you think you can escape culpability by helping stick in the knife...

Once it becomes apparent that covering for Bush will ruin their chances for re-election, the lockstep will break.

14. I have noticed a general "stiffening of the spine"
in my local rag in recent weeks....I think the patriotic taboo B/S is losing it's strength....maybe I DO live in a democracy after all.
Not getting my hopes up that high yet.
