When he says that DeLay belongs in jail, he speaks for me.
When he says that a lot of Republicans never made an honest living in their lives, he speaks for me.
And, when he says, "YEEAARRGH," he speaks for me.

You misjudge the breadth of your political support. Because you do the bidding of banks in your home state and don't impede the GOP too much in Washington, you think you are popular, but outside the beltway you are seen as a coward at best.
Howard Dean speaks for the rest of us struggling to make a living, and if you have any advice for him contact him privately and shut the fuck up in public. You and those like you are the reason the democractic party and democracy itself is dying in America, because you sell out the people whenever the price is right.

...I do, but let's be hypethetical here for a moment.
Even if I didn't and I was a dem in any kind of position of literal or figurative authority within the party, my only statement would be that there is enough room for a wide range of opinions and democrats stand with one another. Any dem who was asked about this could have turned this thing around in a second to whichever media figure was asking them about this and said "There are many more subjects of much higher importance than whether or not you guys (the media) can get us (dems) at each other's throats."
But no. Repbublicans who want to be leaders within their party or hold any higher office must cater to and defend their most extreme fringe elements, and dems must prove themselves by turning on their own in even the most innocuous of circumstances.
I expect the spinelessness from the media. I'm tired of having to expect it from dems and I'm tired of them playing right into the media's hands with this shit.

but when Dean says
"that a lot of Republicans never made an honest living in their lives,"
he doesn't speak for me
in fact, when he insults Republicans like this he hurts my efforts to convince Republicans I know to vote Democratic.
he hurts the party in it's attempts to garner votes from Republicans.
It's the DNC chair's job to bring people into the party, not drive them away.
Biden and Edwards are well within their rights to criticize Dean when he makes statements that could potentially harm the party.

...Democratic, no matter what you do. Others, who might be potential Democratic voters, will only become as enflamed by Gov. Dean's comments as the right wing media tell them to. And, whenever we show our collective jugular vein--as Biden and Edwards have done, in this case--the media will sink their teeth in even further. We need to take a page from the Right's playbook, and remain unflappable.
Gov. Dean did not make a party-damaging comment. Let's not turn it into one just because the media come aroung sniffing for blood.

 |
he insulted all Republicans. And to say that the rest "would only become inflamed if the right wing media tells them to". is a further insult. You do not win people over to your side by insulting them or making shallow charactorizations of their motives or intelligence.
Dean's mouth is rapidly making him a liability. Dean needs to watch what he says a lot more carefully - his job is to organize the party, raise money, and get more people to vote for Democrats - not become a center of attention - and especially not to say things that put other Democrats on the spot - because I'm sure there are other things Biden would rather be using his air time to talk about.
Don't spin this into a "right wing media going after Dean's blood" Dean put the blood in the water - he's a national figure - he's the chair of the DNC - and when someone of his stature says something like he did - it's newsworthy.

I said that, no matter how hard you try, *those* people will never vote Democratic.
And, of all the positives to come out of the "Take Back America" conference, the media has grabbed this meme and stuffed it down the country's throat. To point that out should not be insulting to anyone but the media.
And, Republicans' motives or intelligence notwithstanding, the mainstream media supplies the vast majority of their (and all Americans') information. If not for the reporting about this comment, most of the country would probably not even be aware that a conference took place.

I do like Dean and think he's perfect for the job, but when he paints all republicans together it's a turn-off. Why should a republican vote for a democrat when the leader of the party said that you've never worked an honest day job in your life? I think a lot of the republicans (not the freeper types) are a lot more like us then we think. We just have some disagreements on issues and we have different ways of doing something, but why should a republican vote democratic with insults coming at them? Dean should be more clear in his sentences when he says something like that and talk about the leadership and not the people in general. I believe it was Blitzer who pointed that out to him and Dean agreed.

When he talks, he sounds like a real person, and what he says makes sense whether you agree or not, because he's not usually trying to "triangulate" between what real people want and need and what big business demands.
He is talking WITH us, not down TO us after figuring out how to fool us back in the smoke-filled room.

The election in 2000 was stolen. Al Gore won and it was going to be shown on September 12th, 2001 but we know what happened. There is no proof to prove that George Bush "won" this last election with no paper trails and so many problems with the machine's. So Kerry, in my opinion, didn't win or lose and neither did George Bush even though he is in the House (illegally).

Dean does that unceasingly and in the process gets his finger on the very pulse of America -- just like a good doctor would.

We are talking about being innocent civilians being killed in a trumped up war and people being tortured w/o a trial, and people get upset because some Republicans might have had their feelings HURT over a remark by the DNC chair. Yes, I'd like to see a joint statement by Dean, Edwards and Biden that clarify this and quote some of the distortions for what they are - smears. The distrust and distaste resulting from this described incident need to be cleared away. More importantly, people need to be reminded that you can't believe everything you read in the paper - and that some of the distortions and "errors" are deliberate parts of divisive strategies.

Credit card companies do not speak for me. PNAC doesn't speak for me. The Likud party does not speak for me. Hair Club for men does not speak for me. Joe Biden does not speak for me, he speaks for them.

| 103. Dean and Edwards will be appearing TOGETHER, AGAIN |

at a DNC fundraiser next week. So to those of you who are buying into the MSM media meme, "The Democratic Party is broken," THE JOKE IS ON YOU! Dean and Edwards are fighting, SIDE BY SIDE, for our party. But, if you want to drink the MSM koolaid and believe the yappers, go right ahead. BWHAHAHAHA!!! Gee, I thought most DUers were more savvy than that. Apparently, some are not.

I listened to the whole address and he was spot on, and so was Arianna Huffington. Edwards came in a distant 3rd place next to the likes of those too.
I guess I'm a radical leftist. I believe that corporations have taken over the country. I believe that the republiccan party will lie steal cheat and kill for political power and money. I think they are as corrupt as the day is long. I think that many democrats in office are panderers including Hillary and Biden and Leiberman. I think that the working class in this country are getting screwed royally and we are the MORAL MAJORITY. I think that abortion and gay marriage are strawman arguments meant to obscure the devastating effects that current policies will have on us our children and out grandchildren.
I hate the republican party and everything they stand for. They are the real haters of America.

There will be many false prophets fall by the wayside if Dean stays sharp. Biden has had too much Koolaid. I don't know about Edwards? Dean speaks for me! Howard If the Dinos and righties don't like it, so be it. They don't like most of the honest and truthful things.

Ditto for Boxer, Kucinich, et al. Biden -- well, I've had a problem with him for some time, from his various Rose Garden photo-ops with The Chimp, to his Delaware-incorporated special interests, distancing himself from his party when expedient, etc. But as for all good Democrats: Many voices, many styles, but one shared goal.
