Is there a current thread that offers legal advice about...
The rights of individuals when it comes to the activism. I am inspired by this thread:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=158x4863

I realized that we all could use more info about the legalities of demonstration. Where and how. Boundaries, and fines and fees for the breakages of the "law". I don't know yet how to begin this, but there are some fine minds on this site who are well versed in legal terms. How about a pro bona thread for all DUers who are actually taking action? How about an individual thread that addresses legal topics so that we don't feel so threatened and alone when it comes to our rights about demonstrating and protesting. I would imagine the information could be under the thread: Activism and Rights. It could be watchdogged by the attorneys that read and follow this site, and offer current legal information regarding the States and National laws concerning demonstration and protest. Is there already a thread like this? I believe this could be an invaluable service to all and encourage and embolden us to even more political action. What do you think folks?

2. Excellent, but I was hoping for a smaller grassroots approach...
With all the attacks against this fine American Institution, I believe they have their hands full currently. My hope is that we here at DU can help our own and use this site for its strengths. I believe a thread like the one I am asking for would help to shape and mold this site into an even more powerful tool for activism and action. A go to for quick answers and needs like rights and laws regarding protest. I know we have the need and the resources to accommodate this thread.

whether in a group scenario, or hitting the streets alone,
when you may have a few hours here or there to be productive.

Perhaps a group in itself, with mission statement et al...

I for one would be very grateful for any help this fine group
of intellectual renegades could provide.

I can feel the breeze my friend!

6. It would be good
to have a permanent reference guide or something that easily linked to rights and obligations of protesters.

11. In large cities (and some small) you need a permit to demonstrate . . .
. . . in large groups. Crowd control, safety and all of that goes into consideration.

Just call City Hall first, and get the info.
