Maybe “I Was Deep Throat" T-shirts never caught on in the ’70s like “I Shot J.R." T-shirts did in the ’80s because the former was something you didn’t want to say in front of your mama.

Another reason: Some don’t think Deep Throat was a patriot.

Shocked, I am. Shocked, I tell you, to discover that all Republicans don’t consider the man who helped bring down a crooked White House a hero.

Quoted in the news this week doubting A. Mark Felt’s patriotism or good sense include some in the current White House who might have reason to fear when a disgruntled insider (Colin Powell) might stand up and finally clear the air about just who knew about plans to invade Iraq, and when they knew it (Hello, Downing Street memo).
