Poll question: Which MSM Outlet Speaks the Truth?
If you had to rely on *one* U.S. Mainstream Media outlet for your daily news, which would you choose?

1. Come on --
No C-SPAN!

You've gotta have the SPAN! You've got the Faux!

4. you might be right
I'll include them in Round 2.

I ran out of space, and I always think of CSPAN as "documentary"

3. TDS without question.
By far the most blunt and logical reporting out there. I dont know what I'd do without Jon stewart and The Daily show.

5. Unfortunately the "fake news" show is the best place for news today
Edited on Fri Jun-03-05 01:08 AM by high density
CNN, CBS News, et al, wake up you fools if you want to make money. There's an audience out there of people who want news without all the corporate crap. There must be money in it for at least one of the cable news networks and one of the broadcast outlets if they can wake up and stop trying to mimic Rupert Murdoch's empire.

6. I remember when NPR seemed so good...
Was I just naive, or has it gotten really bad in the last couple of years?

8. Daily Show, of course.

The next most reliable are NyTimes and PBS/NPR.

10. this is really too broadly drawn...
since MSNBC is schizophrenic. You couldn't pay me enough to endure more than 30 seconds of the distortions presented as "truth" on Scarborough Country, but Countdown is excellent; Olbermann's not afraid to cover stories like the Downing Street Minutes and he's an excellent interviewer (wow -- giving your guests a chance to respond -- that's allowed?). Their headline coverage throughout the day is standard nuzak. Given the choices listed, I'd have to pick The Daily Show since MSNBC is all over the map, but what I'd really like to choose is Countdown.

13. Yes, I'll maybe try another poll with specific programs
Particular (somewhat relevant) shows might provide more useful data than lumping networks (which are soooo schizo) together.

for example...

Hardball
Countdown
60 Minutes

11. Has a poll like this been done publically? Recently?
I suspect that the general public is, day by day, slowly coming to mirror our findings here at DU.

14. I had heard that The Daily Show
was the ONLY source of news for many "young people" but not sure where that stat. came from.

12. Of course
It's natural that the "Empire" is unable to make any inroads into entertainment - comedy, movies, music, etc. They are evil and far too depressing to entertain because all they know how to do is destroy humanity.

19. That's true, watch Faux, and know the opposite of whatever they're
spewing is true. Never looked at it like that. Anytime I have to listen to that station my blood pressure rises to quickly.

20. So far 4% say Faux!
I wonder if that's a fair estimate of the percentage of Freepers who have infiltrated DU?

Or, is it the percentage of DUers with a bad sense of humor?
