Since when did taking issue with something become "whining?"

I see it everywhere (i.e., on blogs, articles, etc.). IMO the two are distinctly different but, apparently, they seem to have fused as of late.

2. And criticizing someone is now "bashing"
Especially in reference to Kerry.

3. The first time I heard bashing referred to gay-bashing
Of course, the bashing referred to was beating them to a bloody pulp or worse. I guess the right wing thought gays wanted "special rights" by using that term so they co-opted it to mean any criticism.

4. I've grown tired of the term "bashing" too
And you're right. It's been co-opted by people who have no experience whatsoever with discrimination or persecution. White evangelical Christians have taken up that mantle lately and it'd be laughable if they weren't actually being taken seriously about it in some quarters.

7. Newsflash: DU posters slam use of the word "bashing"
and bash the use of "slamming" as in "Delay slams Law and Order ... " - what is this, professional wrestling? No one should be slamming anyone outside that sport.

5. Since it's "their issues" and Our taking exception to them...
...when they were "our issues" and their complaints, the terms were entirely different.

6. Hell, by the neo-con's own model, whinning is the path to success
I mean, that about sums up the entire VRWC media message, doesn't it?
