A report on the latest events from Majority Report
Edited on Mon May-23-05 08:05 PM by FreedomAngel82
I'm listening to Majority Report on this and they have Bill Sheer (sp?) from Liberal Oasis on talking about it with them. Anybody else listening? According to this Sheer it was a smart move of Reid to declare this a victory politically because the fundamelists are going balistic over this and tearing up their party in the immediate future.
He thinks this compromise is total b.s. and the fact they're letting one more radical right french fundamelist corporation judge through is an abonomation. Reid didn't do this and wasn't the lead of the compromise. It was a renogaid through democrats and pro-corporate republicans. If you heard Liberman about this yesterday he said if they come to a compromise it will be good because it will reestablish the center and he's in the center.

This still serves the republican agenda. Not as extreme and as quickly as the leaders want it too and it's still going in the direction. We've not gone the other way, the correct way, on judge's and haven't gotten an independent judicary. We don't know the extremist of the other judge's and they just let Owan through and Owan's bad enough. According to Sam the real issue of this is a win for the corprotists over the french fundamelists. Who knows what kind of payback they'll have to give back to them for them to still vote for them. According to the other guy there's a battle between the french fundameantlists and the pro-corporations. Both wings want these judges for different reasons. The corproate wing was very fearful of the nuclear option as that would then grind the Senate to an almost hault.

Now some of their judges and some legeslation as to all of their judge's and none legeslation. With that suspect it's NOT a win for the American people. However there might be politicial gain from this and the french fundamentalists over this and they told Frist and any republican who compromised that any of your presidential hopes are busted and that's the message they were sending them. According to Sheer if you triggered the nuclear option only Bill Frist would apply to judge's and surpreme court judge's and nothing else. They could use it through legeslation and cram rightwing stuff down the democrats throats and we've not gotten that and that is a win.

You can't trust Frist with this. If it's used it can be a good thing and it's up to the democrats to use it and they've not shown this Congress to do this. Now the question is if they're going to use it. Seder also asked: how do we know this won't happen again? Frist didn't want a deal but some of the other's (republicans) did. Seder thinks Reid probably didn't want a deal but is claiming victory for a political move. We don't know the price the democrats had to pay. The minimum price is the judge's. We don't know what impact this had though. Sheer is noting how the democrats represent more people then the fifty-five republican Senators and questioning whether they're going to use the filibuster.

There's no knowledge of how many votes there were. Assuming the deal holds, and a big if, we know that if it happened Dobson would be picking the judge's. Sheer doesn't know if that's changed and who he's picked and he assume's it will be the summer. Owan just was let through. She took money from corporation's and ruled on their behalf in Texas. Sheer is wondering if Bush will send someone like her to the Surpreme Court. Frist had a week of debate on Owan for personal sympathy on her and making it harder for the democrats to not block her. All news was about corporating and compromising. Poll numbers might be siding with democrats but detached from the debate and don't know about it and why Congress isn't doing something else.

It added media pressure for compromise and therefore they took the escape hatch and did it because the media never explained about the judge's. Now Majority Report is playing an audio file of a news report of people and they're all saying they don't know anything about it and wish the news would stop talking about it and move onto something else. One guy said "I shut the news off. None of it made any sense." Second person said: "why are they debating about this?" Sheer thinks they're attacking the politicians and the news organization's think they did a crappy job and it's all about raitings.

People are just frustrated because they don't understand about it (I think this was done on purpose by the White House). Jeanane is saying according to the documentary "Feeding the Beast" one of their excuses is "we got 24 hours to fill, what are we going to do?" and when you tell the truth it's fascinating and all they have to do is take the time to explain things. There is a sense on "why can't they compromise?" and thought about the big picture. If the media would explain about the fight and what the judge's are about then people would understand more. It's not restricting the corporation's.

People have the privilage to make a corporation and they have duities to give back to society according to Ted Kennedy and must respond to regusluation and what not. According to Senator DeWine (sp?) from Ohio he says if a Senator believes a filibuster is taking place that is NOT under "extreme" surcamstances we will reserve the right what we could have done tomorrow and vote "yes" on the Constiutional Option. Basically he's saying the definition of "extordinary" is define in the negative. All one republican has to do is say he doesn't agree and it's very disturbing. According to DeWine the Constiutional Option is bad for the Senate and country.

1. Interesting . . .but hard to read . . .
If it's not too late, you might want to divide this into shorter paragraphs. Thanks for posting.
