Jesus plays soccer?
In my fundie neighborhood, there were two signs up at the park across the street yesterday. One of them was a picture of Jesus playing soccer and the caption was
Let Jesus Lead the Way

The other one said
Play on God's Team

My son saw them and told me about them. Apparently they had soccer tryouts over at the park yesterday. Being the good progressive I am, I decided to go over there and take those signs down. But someone had beat me to it. Thank gawd!!

Buy we can't help but wonder - that means no Jewish or Muslim or atheist kids were welcome to play on that soccer team.

Do these idiot fundies even think before they put up signs like that? DON' ANSWER THAT.

2. I don't know
I am assuming it was a church. We have 4 within a mile all on this street.

4. I know what you mean
and that is why I wanted to take the signs down and see who had put them there.

But I think it is wrong on a moral level - regardless of who sponsored the team. Think of the message to kids (like mine) who aren't in fundie families.

5. I don't agree with it either...but if it was church-sponsored, they are..
..legally well in their right, and you were in the wrong (legally) for taking down the signs.

6. I didn't take them down
Someone else did.

But I admit I would have. This is my neighborhood too. And I know enough about jeezus to realize he did NOT play soccer.

7. Soccer wasn't even invented
in Jesus Christs part of the world, nor in his lifetime.

the name of a Baptist Church, and John 3:16, painted on the back.

9. We see that sign all the time here
There is some 'fan' who goes to the Chiefs games and hangs that sign up. That way the whole country can know that there are a bunch of religious nuts here in the midwest.

16. I keep tell DUrs to buy bright sticks and write on their car windows, but
I get no response... Is everyone afraid of confrontation or is publishing that they feel the "War of Lies - Stop it Now" seems "nuts?"

be construed as such ... so you'd be ordered to clean windows BFD... buy a teeshirt that says the same thing while you're washing! Besides, it's your fucking car! Unless you write on the bus window, then what about all that gum under the seats? That's vandalism too!

Not that I haven't considered that.

14. No, except our first thought was that a mega church had an 18-wheeler!
When we passed the truck, however, we saw a company name on the door, and decided the print on the back was probably the work of a very dedicated churchgoer.

13. Jesus can play soccer if he wants.
He's god, y'know. He could kick Superman's ass if he wanted. He could whip Superman, Captain America, and Wonder Woman with one hand tied behind his back! Even with both hands tied behind his back. That's one of the many advantages of being fucking omnipotent!

I wouldn't play soccer against any team that has Jesus as a member unless he promises not to use his super powers.

15. He mows my grass too.
His full names is 'Jorge Jesus Garrido Hernandez'. A very hard worker. I recommend him to all my friends.

He has talked about getting a new mower. One of those things you stand on a little two wheel cart behind the mower and just steer the mower with handle bars. If he could do this, get that new mower, well he could become very rich.

plowing down a soccer field is pretty intimidating.

I wonder who Jesus would keep off his team.... He was a Jew after all. Those of us who follow Jesus are called Christians.
