WASHINGTON — The FBI said Wednesday that a hand grenade hurled toward President Bush as he addressed a massive crowd in Tbilisi, Georgia, this month was a live device that could have exploded.

I believe there's a far too likely scenario where the right-wing creates a martyr for their "cause." For over 40 years, the fascist right has chafed under the perception that Democrats have gotten the "sympathy vote" due to JFK's assassination ... a "sympathy vote" they implicitly admit they exploited for nearly a century as every school kid has been taught that Abraham Lincoln was a martyred Republican. The Age of Robber Barons from about 1870 to 1930 was possibly, in part, due to excesses given license by enfeebled public scrutiny. After all, who prosecutes a "grieving family member"?
